  • Family-friendly pub site with glamping pods
  • Set behind a canalside inn
  • Easy access to Sherwood Forest, Doncaster and Sheffield
Pet-friendly camping pods in a peaceful Yorkshire setting – and on a pub site where one can watch boats bobbing on the water of the Chesterfield Canal? All sounds pretty podding perfect. Waterfront Glamping is a small, family-run pub glampsite in the quiet village of West Stockwith, where the South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire borders meet. This is a green countryside setting of walks and bike rides, fishing and golf, and with easy access to the cities of Lincoln, Doncaster, Sheffield and Nottingham as well as to Sherwood Forest and the legendary tales of Robin Hood land. Set behind the canalside pub Waterfront Inn, the pods here are insulated and double-glazed, sleeping up to two adults and two kids. They each have a patio, outdoor furniture, fold-up double bed and a kettle. A shared toilet and shower is a short walk away. Waterfront Glamping is a family-friendly and quiet site, so while there's a friendly vibe and beer sampling is encouraged, the owners request no noisy shenanigans after 10pm, please.

Local attractions

Waterfront Glamping's setting in the village of West Stockwith has it in a peaceful countryside setting, in a wildlife haven with walks and cycling all around, and easily accessible to towns, cities and attractions in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Stay on site first to cast off with some canalside fishing followed by mulling over drinks, bites and boat views from the inn's beer garden, before a walk or pedal along the canal on the 46 miles of the Cuckoo Way from West Stockwith to Chesterfield. Then it's very much time for some history: old settlements nearby include Gainsborough, seven miles away, the medieval market town with a fifteenth-century timber-framed stronghouse Henry 8 once waddled around; Methodism birthplace Epworth, within eight miles, and ancient cathedral city Lincoln, about 24 miles away. Around with the kids? Zip along to Sherwood Forest for some legendary Robin Hood tales, the walkthrough wildlife zones of the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, or the Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre just outside Sheffield.
