Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Great scenery around the site. Open space for the our kids to play without causing nuisance to others. Good location from day trips in local area. Staff were very helpful when it came to food allergy in our group.

Disliked: Not as quiet on an evening as we'd have liked. Loud singing and noticeable music from other campers.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Good sized pitches, good welcome, bar restaurant was great and food reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and helpful. A lot of livestock on site and chickens roaming freely with chicks.

Disliked: Facilities were adequate but being revamped. Unfortunately weather was poor and difficult to drive around site.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Location, pitch set up

Disliked: Facilities lacking due to refurbishment, only 1 of the ladies toilet locked, no washing up facilities even though it's advertised as having them, very noisy - seemed to be a local camping spot for locals wanting to party

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: A lovely campsite with gorgeous views. Amazing food (best chips I’ve ever tasted) in restaurant and super friendly staff. Great price for the night and good facilities which are in the middle of being updated. Wildlife running round which was a highlight for children and a tire swing over a little stream which they loved.

Disliked: Facilities in the middle of being updated. Men’s toilets quite poor and dirty. Also unfortunately we were pitched near a loud family who were noisy until late and were using poor language that children could hear. Not the fault of the site of course but something to consider

Local attractions

Kielder Water and Forest within 16 miles are full of watersports activities such as canoeing, sailing, and waterskiing, along with water walker and sea scooter hire. A high ropes course, climbing, zipwiring, fencing, archery and crossbow are among the many forest activities available on and above land. Three of the attractions of the Hadrian's Wall UNESCO World Heritage site are within a short drive: Housesteads Roman fort, the most complete in Britain; Vindolanda, and Chesters Roman Fort, six miles from Hexham. Also famed in the region is Alnwick Castle and Garden 37 miles away, made up of huge formal gardens including the world's largest treehouse, and in a setting that will be instantly recognised by Harry Potter fans (broomstick training is available during the summer months: how magic). The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is about 45 miles from here, to reach Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island via moorland, countryside and ancient forest. The site is 45 miles from Carlisle.
