Power optional grass tent campsite (large)
Liked: Loved the location, the pub and shop on site with multiple walks to robin hoods bay or Whitby. The pitches were flat and peaceful with extremely friendly staff.
Disliked: I have a bee in my bonnet with the fact that I had to pay an extra £4 a night for electric hook up and then had to pay for the electric on a top up card. This is the first campsite where I’ve had to do this instead of the electric included in the extra price I pay for the hook up. WiFi didn’t work at all.

From the manager: Hi Josh, Many thanks for your positive review of the park, we are glad you enjoyed the park and the area. I think there may be some confusion here, as the tent pitch you booked was set at a rate for a large tent pitch, this did not have extra added to it for electric. Electric across the whole park is Pay As You Go for all customers. Extra fees per night are for, awnings, extra adults and dogs. I hope this clears up the situation and we look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind Regards, York House Caravan Park Team.

Liked: Site was lovely and clean. Great views and just outside whitby. Very convenient for whitby. Scarborough etc . Also great value this time of year . Great dog walking area which was mowed for ease of walking
Disliked: We wanted to put up a side awning to our van which we paid for only to find where we were pitched we couldn't put the awning up as it meant we would be facing the motor home bumper of the other person so didn't bother . When I went to reception she said I couldn't complain for 7 days . And even if you complain the owner isn't interested. It wasn't a big problem as the weather was nice . So we used our wind out . I will try and get my money back but not holding out much hope as apparently the owner also doesn't do refunds . So we will see .

From the manager: Hi Carol, many thanks for the positive reviews of the park, we are glad to hear the aspects you enjoyed. We just need to clarify and correct the second part of your review: You were able to put your awning up and there was ample room for sitting on the grass behind your pitch. You are very welcome to make a complaint at any time with your dislikes being looked at. Park rules state there are no refunds given 1 month before arrival, especially for changing your mind about choosing to put an awning up or not. Refunds are given to Pitch Up Bookings prior to one month of arrival, minus the deposit paid. Once again, many thanks for taking the time to write a positive review of the park. Kind regards, York House Caravan Park Team.
We enjoyed our stay. It was central for our needs and would return.
