Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite
Liked: It was a great flat site, liked to see the animals - was rural and out of the way little things made a difference - the charging points for phones and e bikes - the water points were dotted about but needed more soap or hand sanitiser! being able to buy the dry wood was a nice addition. - it was a very very wet weekend so ground was like slip and slide.
Disliked: After arrival picking up 2 mounds of dog poo wasnt my dog!!!! wasnt the start i expected - near the previous pitched spaces as the grass was flattenned! the toilets were awful - the composting ones, were so dark n slippy, the doors were so tight with the wet weather, the locks were rusty - the toilet block contained one flushing toilet that was occupied by every hour of the 2 days someone being sick after excess alcohol - understand you cant do much about poor guests - but saw no one from the farm house - the pitches wasn't allocated or numbered

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. I can only apologise for the dog mess left by a previous guest and unfortunately not spotted by myself before your arrival. I must reject your view that the toilets are 'awful' I take great pride in the standard of cleanliness of all the facilities including the composting toilets which other reviews will confirm. You did indeed visit on a very wet weekend and I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay on the farm despite this. Regarding the other guest you have mentioned, I only wish this had been brought to my attention at the time as I would have spoken to them and attempted to solve the problem. I fear that as you skipped the check in process and chose your own pitch we did not get the chance to meet and as such communication was lacking. I do hope enough you can find happiness on your next camping trip. Kind regards Fliss

Liked: Beautiful location all be it out in the countryside, but we knew that. Showers and toilets there are 2 lots at either end of the field excellent value for money WiFi worked too and was free
Disliked: Not really an issue but the shower took a while to heat up and was not a lot of pressure but worked none the less

Liked: Great location very close to the Cleveland Way and Sutton Bank. The site is small so lovely and quiet, with great views. Facilities are pretty good (the off-grid shower was especially good) and there were even a couple of walk guides in the shed with the washing up sink.
Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: Peaceful site with great views. Pitches were well maintained, toilets/showers kept clean, fire pits available to use and you could purchase firewood and fresh farm eggs from the site. The owner also kindly let us freeze our ice packs in their freezer. The kids loved walking round the farm and seeing the lambs, sheep and cows 🥰

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite
Liked: Lovely farm camping. Friendly owner. Small site. Rural. Lots of walks and cycling trails nearby. The off grid shower was hotter than the main shower. Very eco friendly with compost toilets which were never smelly.
Disliked: A bit exposed at times up on the top of the moors. We had an exceptionally windy night for the end of May. Make sure your tent is pegged down properly. A fridge in the utility room would have been a helpful addition as we could not see where we could get our freezer blocks frozen .. I guess you have to ask at the farm house. Overall it’s a great little campsite.

Liked: Wonderfull views across the countryside, spacious level pitch, happy friendly host, good WiFi. Lovely fresh farm eggs! Lots of birdlife around the farm. Quiet site. Shower is basic but worked Ok.
Disliked: Loved everything about the site, however: if you’re towing a caravan you cannot access the A170 Sutton Bank from Thirsk, so plan your route, the detour for caravans is 20 miles round and takes 40 minutes.
