  • Back to basics campsite on a North Yorkshire family farm
  • Jervaulx Abbey 10 minutes' drive; Hawes 45 minutes
  • Peaceful farm site with excellent views; 1.25 miles to a village pub
Camble Field Campsite is a low-key site that's located on a working family farm just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Come here to experience back to basics camping in almost-wild surroundings (with the added convenience and comfort of access to toilets and showers). Scenic walks, far-reaching views and plenty of cycle routes surround this site near the village of Rookwith, and there are lots of local attractions in the surrounding area to explore too. You might like to start off down the road at the ruins of Jervaulx Abbey (10 minutes' drive), or venture further into the national park to explore Hawes (45 minutes) and sample local produce at the Wensleydale Creamery. Whatever activities you have in the offing, Camble Field Campsite is a peaceful spot for a varied camping break. Handily, after all that action, there’s a pub in the village about a mile and a quarter down the road. Other spots like Masham and Bedale (both 10 minutes) are easy to access too, while Ripon and Richmond can both be reached by car in under half an hour. Barbecues and dogs are welcome throughout the camping season at this family-friendly site.

Liked: lovely peaceful surroundings and fab sunset view when possible! Rural but not too remote as amenities nearby. Very organised but not in a commercial way just proper countryside camping!

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: The campsite was perfect, just what we were looking for. Lovely big pitches and loads of open space for the kids to run free. Proper back to basic camping 2 porterloos that have got to be the cleanest I've ever seen and well stocked with toilet paper lol. Pot washing sink and shower did the job for the weekend and the owners and their family were amazing friendly people. We are definitely going back here in the future. Thank you for a great weekend.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: The views at the campsite were great. It was a really good size, not overcrowded and very clean. The portaloos were immaculately clean and there was always plenty of toilet paper and hand sanitiser. The washing up station was clean and washing up liquid was on tap. The campsite owner Kerry was really friendly. She sent a text message prior to our arrival with directions onto the site and details of our pitch number. We were also informed that a fish and chip van was going to arrive at the site that Friday evening. We didn't have the fish and chips but we were told by other campers that they were delicious and good portions for £8. Kerry was on the site to welcome us/introduce herself when we arrived and pointed us in the direction of our pitch. She was not on site all the time but she arrived an hour or so before everyone's departure to ask if everything had been ok.

Disliked: There was one unisex cold shower which wasn't very inviting but as it was one of the hottest days of the year, it was bearable.
