  • Secluded, off grid Shepherd’s Hut surrounded by nature. Wild, beautiful and very, very quiet.
There are fewer simple pleasures than spending a weekend in this beautifully handcrafted, secluded shepherd’s hut in the wilds of Cropton Forest. This off-grid escape, in its own wildflower glade, allows you to step away from the busy lives we all lead and really reconnect with the people and nature around you. North Hut is a Luxury Shepherd’s Hut, lovingly crafted by ourselves, in a vast expanse of wilderness in the North York Moors National park. This Luxury Shepherd‘s Hut is furnished with a double bed, leather sofa, a woodburning stove, open plan kitchen and a bathroom with hot shower and a Swedish waterless loo. It doesn’t lack any of the creature comforts, and yet there’s a refreshing simplicity about the place too. Entirely off grid, life is geared towards the slower pace of the wild surroundings. Linger around the Dutch oven as you cook over an open fire. For adventurers, paddle in the river that flows nearby with beavers and otters upstream. Although many of us intuitively know, the healing power of time spent in nature is well documented. When we go to stay somewhere wild, we benefit from the relaxing activities such as sitting quietly and listening to the ambient sound of birdsong, or building the fire and softly gazing at the flames. It sends a message to our parasympathetic nervous system that it is time to de-stress. North Hut sits in its own secluded meadow, in the wilds of Cropton Forest, making it perfect for outdoor adventures exploring the forest and its wildlife. Venture along a private mown path which meanders its way through our new woodland to reveal the North Hut. Here, at luxury shepherd’s hut you’ll find everything you need to spend hours mucking around, cycling, hiking, foraging and cooking on the Dutch oven amongst stunning woodland scenery and stargazing in the big open skies of the North York Moors which showcase a magnitude of stars, planets and moons. We’re officially one of the best places in the country to see stars, because of the low light pollution levels and we were designated an international dark sky reserve in December 2020. We have eggs and honey from the Into the Glade hens and bees which you can find in the honesty shop.
