Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Pitches are spacious and level. Toilets and showers are generally fairly clean. I like the bar/entertainment area as its big, you don't feel like you are on top of people, there's plenty of amusements and you don't have to battle a queue of people waiting for swimming or what ever to play on them.

Disliked: My gripe with the site is with people in general, not particularly the campsite. Why can't people use actual bins? There was a lot of rubbish in random places, and it was touring peoples rubbish: a bag of empty tins and bottles and cereal boxes left in the toilets, a load of empty crisp packets and bits dumped by the elsan. There was plenty of bins which weren't full, there's no excuse. I also disliked how expensive the restaurant and the bar was. Buy pitchers of beer or go next door to the social club!

Liked: Brilliant location and site, very quiet and perfect for the dogs first time camping, we didn't see the entertainment as we had the pooches and as first time didn't want to leave them. But brilliant price brilliant location and glad the passes Inc.

Disliked: Didn't like the toilets, they was only ever wiped down not deeply cleaned. Often feaces and blocked toilets. But other than that it was good :)

Liked: Lovely site with nicely segregated pitches. Really enjoyed it 😊. The toilet block was clean & tidy.

Disliked: Slightly high step up into the ladies toilets, could do with an additional step.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Friendly staff, location of touring pitch area , wild life and lake side pitch

Disliked: Where do I start ? Check in for touring caravan area seemed to go smoothly . I had requested and paid extra for a premier pitch with hard standing serviced facilities near shower block as hubby has poor mobility . Was given map and pitch number . Drove over to find someone else in our given pitch plus it was a basic grass one anyway . Back to reception , sorry for error but don’t have one available - another camper must have moved into your space “they sometimes do that ! “ Wait a minute it wasn’t the correctly booked pitch in the first place ! Given different one overnight and had to move next day into another one , happy with that until day 13 when a large motor home sat outside our pitch then sent parkdean staff round to say we were in his booked spot , don’t think so but after a chat with staff discover our amended booking had never been changed at day 2 . Next the ladies shower block , what can I say ? Clean enough but badly need upgraded . I’m sure staff try their best but most of the time the floor was like a swimming pool obviously due to bad drainage . Could never get water warm enough then you ended up standing in a pool of water . No mop to help clear , not toilet brush in loo . Complained several times . Just poor and uncared for for such a big company . Wi-Fi abysmal , glad I didn’t pay to upgrade as made no difference

Liked: The children's entertainment was good, plenty of shows and activities available. Facilities in the park were nice and clean.

Disliked: The play parks could be better, the mini golf course was not worth the name of mini golf. To many activities were not included in the stay and pay as you book. Swimming pool slots hard to get.

Local attractions

The East and North Yorkshire coast is most visitors’ first stop, from the gannets gabbing at Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs to the seaside shenanigans and surfing of Scarborough. If it’s raining, take the kids to Terror Tower: its three floors’ worthy of grisly special effects should silence even the most horrifying sprog. Flit to fab Filey for five miles of beach, its funfair and the start of the Cleveland Way, and nearby Bridlington for the Bird of Prey and Animal Park and Bondville Model Village. Further along the coast, Goths and others love lovely Whitby; have fish and chips at the Magpie café after an afternoon seeing Whitby Abbey and the replica of HMS Endeavour. Inland yields loads to do too, with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Park both within driving distance; as it’s Yorkshire, you’ll find stately pads, historic houses and museums of all bents easily accessible too. A good option for a city day trip is lovely York, about an hour’s drive away.
