Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely camping field next to open countryside. Horses in the next field. Honesty box for basic supplies. Fire baskets available, though quite expensive for wood.

Disliked Not great facilities. Not keen on unisex toilets and showers, particularly when there are only two toilets and 2 showers for the whole campsite! You also need 50p coins for the showers.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review us, we are pleased that you found our camping field attractive. However, we are extremely disappointed to receive such poor comments from you, and such low scores for everything. Reviews like this are extremely significant to our small, family run business and we spend time worrying about them.

We do state on our website that the shower block is unisex and that showers are 50p. As you will see from all the previous reviews, this isn't usually an issue. We have had a unisex shower block since we opened in 2014, as we felt it was the easiest way to provide facilities for as many people as possible, at any one time, with what was manageable for us to build. People can then use the showers as a family, or shower share, to save hot water. This seems to work well. 50p gives a 7 minute shower, which is plenty of time.

In looking back at the previous 10 reviews before yours, all of them mention how clean or good our facilities are. One of them specifically mentions that they never had to wait to use the facilities, even when the site was fully booked. We are only a small campsite and two showers and two toilets is plenty, especially when we usually have caravans and motor homes staying with us, who will make use of their own showers and toilets.

We are sorry that you have given the facilities 5/10 for cleanliness, and 1/10 overall. We do our best to keep everything as clean and tidy as possible. We can't monitor this all the time, but we clean twice a day, check on things many times a day and make it very clear to all guests that we live on site and are available, should they encounter any problems. We are extremely busy in the summer holidays, with our own children, other projects and other jobs but, as you will see from our reviews, we always take the time to meet and greet people and pop out to chat with everyone regularly. We are proud of our 10/10s for customer service and value for money and we are proud of our campsite too.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked I visited for 1 night with my 7yr old. Great place for a family get together, away. The hosts were great. There was a meet and greet on arrival and they provided everything we needed from the fire basket and wood and clean facilities. The shower/toilet Block and washing up area was kept clean regularly. The shop provided cold storage free as well as local produce. 50p pieces were provided free for the shower, which were on a timer, but provided ample water for 2 people to shower. I would 100% return for another visit.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks so much for your helpful review. We're really pleased you enjoyed your 1 night stay. We hope your 7 year old was pleased to get the fire going, using his fire steel and the tinder.

The 50p coins are actually for exchanging for a pound coin, or for adding onto purchases from our little shop (they aren't free). However, as you say, this gives 7 minutes, which does give enough time for two people to shower. You can pay for everything in one go, with a contactless card payment, if you want to buy a few items from our Provisions Place, at the end of your stay.

We look forward to seeing you again.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely small site. Good shower (50p for 7 mins which is plenty). Ordered breakfast provisions (eggs, sausages and rolls) which were very good. Friendly owners. The Rumburgh Buck (10 min walk) is very good for both food and drink.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review us. We're glad you enjoyed your breakfast provisions and found the showers good. The pub is great - an extremely friendly, traditional, local pub, so it's great to have it walking distance from the campsite.

Lovely little camp site with lovely owners. Definitely worth a visit.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked pitches are really spacious and hedging adds privacy. Bathrooms were kept very clean and showers were good. Handy to have the communal fridge and fresh farm eggs each morning. I made use of the fire pit and logs for £7.50 - 2 bundles lasted 3 nights. Owners are friendly and helpful, especially with getting my tent back into the bag at the end of the trip!! :) Good pub only 5 mins walk down lane.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Green Haven Camping is just as it says - a haven of green in the Suffolk countryside. The owners are very friendly with someone always being on hand/there to answer the phone. We especially liked the way they made time each evening to wander the site checking on everyone and asking about their days. This was our second visit in our campervan, and the site was exactly as we remembered it from two years ago - clean, well looked after, and welcoming. The water is very hot, thanks to the solar panels. Showers are 50p for 7 minutes, but there are plenty of coins in the Honesty Shop. We never had to wait to use the facilities, even when the site was fully booked.

We will be returning yet again, for another restful break soon.

Disliked The local pub gets booked up for food very quickly!

Local attractions

Stick to gentle countryside or beach strolls, or pootle along to more formal attractions like Sutton Hoo and the castles at Framlingham and Orford. The city of Norwich is about 45 minutes away. The beaches of the Suffolk coast including Southwold, Aldeburgh and Lowestoft are half an hour or less away and are popular days out in the area for Lowestoft Lighthouse and the most easterly part of the UK at Nees Point; the famed Southwold beach chalets and pier, and festivals and the arts centre Snape Maltings at Aldeburgh. Birdwatching buffs can take their binoculars to nearby RSPB Minsmere, or to Walberswick, to spy specimens among the heath and marshlands. The latter has a good beach for crabbing too – and you might also catch sight of a celebrity resident in the surrounds: rich peeps live here… The Broads of Norfolk and Suffolk are a main draw for visitors to this part of England and a boat trip along their 120 miles or so of waterways is very much a must. Wildlife and fishing trips are also easy to arrange. Dunwich and Beccles are a mere two of the villages and market towns around the region: leaf through the tourist brochures at Green Haven to find details of these and of local walks, swimming, horse riding, heaths and gardens to see.
