  • Dog-friendly farm-style pitches that are simple, spacious and quiet
  • A 15-minute drive to King’s Lynn; walk or cycle to Castle Rising
  • Great cycling connections; firepits permitted and logs available
Simple, spacious and quiet… the farm-style pitches at Four Oaks Camping are just that. This East Anglia site is an excellent choice for respectful, wildlife-loving individuals and families. Back to basics and rural, the spot is in a remote corner of North Wootton village, yet it’s still very well-connected to local attractions, amenities and historic locations such as King’s Lynn (15 minutes’ drive), Sandringham Estate (10 minutes) and Castle Rising (45 minutes’ walk). Based within the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are mighty-fine views over the West Norfolk skyline. Environmentally-respectful facilities are provided on site and include composting loos, solar electricity, mains water for drinking and (alfresco) washing, wash pails and eco-friendly soaps. Firepits are given the go-ahead and handily, the site sells logs sustainably sourced from the local area. What else to expect? Natural space, toilets, taps and information – the rest is up to you. Vehicles can be driven to the pitch area. Group bookings and space for events can be arranged. Plus, well-behaved dogs are very welcome too. The immediate area has plenty of pleasant trails for walking and biking, including cycle-friendly tracks, parks and traffic-light country lanes to sites such as Castle Rising, Sandringham Estate and King’s Lynn. Take your pick from scenic country lanes and nature-rich woodlands too. If you’re in need of a refreshing potion or snack afterwards, the local pub is 10 minutes’ walk from the site and there are shops selling essentials within a couple of miles. Apart from water, this is an off-grid site, so don’t expect mains electricity or chemical disposal points.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Owners were just lovely. So much space, lots of options on where to pitch, however much privacy and seclusion you want. Despite being "basic", the facilities were very impressive and kept clean and hygienic throughout all times of the day. Relaxed atmosphere throughout the stay. Everything was just what I would want from a campsite.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Spacious. Being able to choose a pitch. Location close to Sandringham which was the purpose of our trip.

Disliked: Slightly noisy children quite early in the morning. But they were on holiday too. Lack of warm water in the showers. Could solar panels be an option?

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked: Quiet site, big pitches which we could choose. Cleanest composting toilets I have visited, use of a privacy cubicle for a wash. Good 4g reception. Friendly and helpful owners.

Disliked: Not the campsites fault, but my wife and I got bitten to death by mosquitos.... Would recommend some strong insect repellant
