  • Near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads
  • Two parks in one: family-oriented and more quiet sections
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, gym, crazy golf, bar and restaurant
If you can’t decide whether to opt for an idle break or something a bit more lively, then have the best of both at Breydon Water Holiday Park, near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads. It’s essentially two parks in one: the first is Yare Village, for those looking for an active, family-oriented vibe, with its toasty outdoor pool (open from May to September, weather permitting), crazy golf, and a buzzing schedule of sports, kids’ activities and evening entertainment. Just 10 minutes’ walk away is the more sedate Bure Village, where there’s an indoor pool and a fully-equipped gym. The site also has wifi in the Waterside bar and restaurant.

Liked: Campsite was called Yare Village not Breydon Water Holiday Park so that was not easy to find. Daft to do thar. Check in was quick, etc. Site clean and pretty level for tents.

Disliked: Very noisy and no staff warden about the early hours night time to tell people to quieten down around 21:00. Kids screaming, very toy machine guns, a fair drunken people talking very loud. I'm born deaf with a hearing aid. It was very noisy! Could do with toilet paper in the early mornings. All empty but only one cubicle had a half a roll.

Liked: Great value pitches. (A 1 night stopover was £16 incl dog & EHU booked through Pitchup.) Super dog walking directly from the site to Burgh Fort and along the river. Meals and Bar on site. We didn't use the entertainment or pools, but enjoyed a hot breakfast before we left site.

Disliked: Extra cost for WiFi.

Liked: Perfect location for dog owners as the site has direct access onto Burgh Castle (which also has beautiful views). Price included access to club house, entertainment and x2 swimming pools (indoor and outdoor). Spacious pitches with electric hook up. Bar and food onsite with local takeaways delivering regularly. Great site!

Disliked: Not a dislike as such but Wi-Fi was extra however was not needed due to good phone coverage.

Liked: The staff in particularly Archie on the maintenance side of the touring park were very helpful and tried their best with what they had to work with

Disliked: Sorry no likes about the park anymore, delapidated annd rundown Archie and the other guy managing the pitches conveniences etc were faultless , it’s just that the park itself is looking very weary and unkempt. The chaos caused by a lot of rain never caused such an upheaval as this shower excuse the pun did this time around. Because the maintenance hasn’t been there to upkeep the grounds , it needed sand replenished and regrassed and massive potholes dealt with that have been in decline of maintenance for the past few years already. I’m speaking from a regular camper to this site twice yearly that it’s got bad enough for us to say enough is enough . The maintenance to the ramps entering should be addressed too , then there is the clubhouse… the staff ok but the incessant need to raise the air conditioning to ice proportions forcing punters out of the place is abysmal ! Don’t order a drink for last orders unless you can sup it up in a few minutes. This has happened regularly for quite a few years and is the norm but this year it’s 10:30 if you’re lucky and the place is locked up for the night and staff off to party. The food in the restaurant isn’t the worst I’ve ever had but it does differ between days so I’m guessing they have at least one competent person in the kitchen so try pick the time they’re on duty I guess else it’s a lucky dip . Can’t fault the cleanliness of the amenities but they’re definitely in need of an update. This was our last holiday to this site after two decades we’ve had enough even just using the place as a base

Local attractions

Great Yarmouth, a short drive away, has masses of attractions – too many to list here, but to give you an idea: the Sea Life aquarium, the exhilarating indoor circuit at Karting 2000, mini choo-choos and tiny townsfolk at Merrivale Model Village and Gardens, and the Elizabethan House Museum, where visitors can don Tudor fashions and find out what life was really like below stairs for Victorian scullery maids. There are more than 50 acres of adrenaline rides, plus parrot and sea lion shows and an Alpine chair lift at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft. For those seeking more genteel pursuits, also near Lowestoft is Somerleyton Hall, a Tudor-Jacobean pile with pleasure gardens and a maze, home to the Crossley Carpets dynasty. Drive a little further and you can explore the wetlands and waterways of the Norfolk Broads, or head south to gorgeous Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
