  • Family site on the River Severn, 10 minutes’ drive from Great Malvern
  • Malvern Hills and Worcester 15 minutes’ drive; Tewkesbury 20 minutes
  • Playground and on-site fishing; clubhouse with carvery and Sky Sports
Fancy waking up to expansive views of the spectacular Malvern Hills? Then Riverside Caravan Park might just be the place for your next holiday. This peaceful site sits on the banks of the River Severn, 10 minutes’ drive from Great Malvern and 15 minutes from Worcester. The site is well equipped for families: children can let rip in the play area and climb trees, and there’s a dog park for the four-legged members of your clan. Meanwhile, the grown-ups can relax with a spot of riverside angling or by taking in the splendid views of the Worcestershire countryside. Sometimes animals can be spotted in the neighbouring area. The on-site clubhouse puts on a diverse range of events, from quiz nights to bingo and live entertainment; it also has a big screen tuned to Sky Sports, for the happiness of those who just can’t stay away from their Saturday footie. The clubhouse serves meals, too, including traditional Sunday roasts, or you can explore the local pubs: the nearest one is a five-minute drive away (or a 25-minute walk). On the other hand, if you prefer to fire up the barbecue, you’re more than welcome to do so here. Great Malvern is your best bet for provisions, with independent shops and a choice of supermarkets. Among other amenities here are heated toilet and shower blocks (including facilities for disabled guests), a launderette and a washing-up area.

Powered grass campsite (sloping)

Liked: Site well kept and the pitch was serviced well. Obviously a company that takes pride in what it does. Club house was good. Although, be warned.... it only takes cash! Closest cash machine a 10 min drive away. Food was OK. The touring/camping pitches are on a sloping field. I would've needed 3 ramps to get my van level. However, they do say sloping on the booking form. So I was warned! Good park for kids. My son loved the space to run around. Would definitely go back there.

Powered grass campsite (sloping)

Liked: Plenty of space, great to have water tap on the pitch too. Toilet and shower facilities were always clean.

Disliked: Sloping pitches - although was aware prior to arrival. Only two shower cubicles which could be an issue should it be busier! Wasn’t aware prior to arrival of the gates being shut at 2100hrs so had to rent a gate fob to be able to access the site late at night. It wasn’t an issue but prior information should have included it as they only take cash!

From the manager: Thank you for your great review, our gate times do vary depending on whether its a weekday or weekend. The gate fob is a refundable deposit which is why it is cash only. Wee will take on board your comments regarding knowing the above prior to arrival. Hope to see you again soon. Kind regards The Riverside Team

Powered grass campsite (sloping)

Liked: The facilities were extremely clean and the staff were really helpful. We were able to walk in the Malvern Hills and also enjoy the river Severn with a short paddle board. We were able to cycle to Tewkesbury which was also good. We had a pitch for our tent towards the bottom on the site which isn’t sloped.

Liked: When I leaving I find it my car is out of battery. I was frustrating about starting up my car. The staffs are helpful and friendly. They help us to start my car so that I can leave . One more important, the toilet and bathroom are clean and tidy. I’m so happy in this camping.

Primitive grass campsite (sloping)

Liked: It was a fantastic experience! The site was well-maintained with clean facilities and plenty of play areas. We had stunning sunrise views and great time. The nearby hiking trails around the campground were well-marked and varied, catering to both beginners and experienced hikers. Night time was peaceful, with a clear view of the stars.

Disliked: The only downside was the occasional noise from nearby sites, but overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable escape into nature. Definitely planning to return!

Local attractions

Head to Worcester, where you can gaze up at (and feel dwarfed by) the Gothic vaults of the centuries-old cathedral (home of the tomb of medieval King John); learn all about porcelain at the Museum of Royal Worcester; and check out the walled garden at Greyfriars House. If you’re itching for a hike, there are plenty of trails in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (15 minutes’ drive), including circular walks taking in a spectacular landscape of woodland, pastures and orchards. There are also self-guided themed walks focusing on wildlife, the famed water springs or local literary connections. Stretching on the banks of the River Avon, the historic town of Tewkesbury (20 minutes) is renowned for its 12th-century abbey, with its splendid stained-glass windows and ornate ceiling. The Tewkesbury Museum, in a half-timbered building, is home to a vast diorama (with a cast of over 2,000 characters) illustrating one of the key battles of the War of the Roses, the Battle of Tewkesbury, which took place on the outskirts of the town in 1471.
