  • Simple pitches in a flat field a mile from the village of Quinton
  • A 10-minute drive to Stratford-upon-Avon; Warwick Castle 25 minutes
  • Greenway cycle path opposite the site; dogs on leads welcome
Keep things simple for your break in the Warwickshire countryside – The Moat is a back-to-basics site on a flat field about a mile from the village of Quinton, and it’s a place that’s all about providing a quiet spot for a budget-friendly outdoor break. Accessed via a layby on the B4632, this site is well located for all sorts of days out, from walks in the Cotswolds National Landscape to exploring historic attractions like Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon. A greenway starts just across the road for cycle rides to Stratford-upon-Avon, and there are plenty of places around for a good walk in scenic countryside. Dogs are welcome to join you on those walks, and on site as long as they’re kept on a lead. The setup here is a simple one, with just toilet and shower facilities, plus a chemical disposal point. There’s plenty of space to get your pitch set up with whatever gazebos, awnings and outdoor furniture makes you feel at home, and for the kids to have a bit of a run around in the fresh air. There’s a shop for your food supplies in the village – and it’s also got a pub and a takeaway for easy meals. A couple of other pubs are within a few minutes’ drive as well.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Liked Everything, the couple who run it are so lovely we got some free plums on arrival and shown the shower and toilets. Told to pitch where we like. They popped down to check on us and gave us some excellent kite flying tips ! Wonderful field large space for a pitch. Hot showers. The sites is just a bit further up from the Google maps location but you can ring the two numbers on arrival or before and beep your horn if needed. Very easy !

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The owners were the friendliest site owners we have ever met

Facilities were perfect

The price was amazing and they should be charging more
I wish them the best of success

Disliked Due to some recent anti social issues, they have got the place locked up
I felt uncomfortable popping out to the shops - however after hearing what they have been through, it’s not a negative and I totally appreciate these measures

The site was a perfect hideaway and the hosts were the best I have encountered on my travels

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Had a fab stay at The Moat. With Husband and 2 dogs. Very friendly host, even gave us a large punnet of plums from his garden. Told us where the locals walks were for the dogs. The site is small and the toilets and showers adequate for a short stay. Ideal if you're not constantly wanting to leave the site as gates always locked and have to get host to let you out and in.

From the manager: Hi

I am sorry that you had trouble entering the site it was open it does state on the gate to sound horn or ring the number stated. There were people entering the site all day, on your confirmation there is a number to ring did you try ringing. We have to have the gates for security.

We liked that we could choose where we wanted to pitch. Friendly owners…

Local attractions

When you stay here you’ll be just a little way north of the top edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape, so there’s lots of lovely scenery to explore on walks and outings there. Some of the favourite spots nearby include National Trust - Hidcote (10 minutes’ drive), Broadway Tower (20 minutes), Cotswold Lavender (20 minutes) and Batsford Arboretum (25 minutes). For other ways to see some of your surroundings, you may like to take a walk along the eight-mile Blossom Trail from Evesham (25 minutes) – it’s particularly lovely in spring, when all the flowers bloom. A steam train ride from Broadway to Cheltenham on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is another excellent option. To take in some of the area’s history, spend the day in Stratford-upon-Avon (10 minutes), visiting Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Tudor World. The town is also home to the MAD Museum and Stratford Butterfly Farm for family outings.
