  • Simple pitches in a flat field a mile from the village of Quinton
  • A 10-minute drive to Stratford-upon-Avon; Warwick Castle 25 minutes
  • Greenway cycle path opposite the site; dogs on leads welcome
Keep things simple for your break in the Warwickshire countryside – The Moat is a back-to-basics site on a flat field about a mile from the village of Quinton, and it’s a place that’s all about providing a quiet spot for a budget-friendly outdoor break. Accessed via a layby on the B4632, this site is well located for all sorts of days out, from walks in the Cotswolds National Landscape to exploring historic attractions like Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon. A greenway starts just across the road for cycle rides to Stratford-upon-Avon, and there are plenty of places around for a good walk in scenic countryside. Dogs are welcome to join you on those walks, and on site as long as they’re kept on a lead. The setup here is a simple one, with just toilet and shower facilities, plus a chemical disposal point. There’s plenty of space to get your pitch set up with whatever gazebos, awnings and outdoor furniture makes you feel at home, and for the kids to have a bit of a run around in the fresh air. There’s a shop for your food supplies in the village – and it’s also got a pub and a takeaway for easy meals. A couple of other pubs are within a few minutes’ drive as well.

Secure, well-kept site with friendly owners. Praised for large, level pitches, great value, and quiet location near Stratford. Basic but clean facilities. Owners plan improvements for shower/toilet block.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Met at the gate and given details about the site. I wanted to be able to leave early, so the owner agreed to be up and ready to unlock the gates for me.
Very clean and safe parking with clean facilities.
Well maintained grass which had been mowed like a garden lawn.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The grass was green.

Disliked The owner said the price is going up, so won't be worth staying as the facilities are very poor, price at the moment is correct for a grass pitch only.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Great hospitality, lovely family who made us very welcome. Facilities great. Location perfect for us with Stratford upon Avon very close. We arrived in a VW T2 campervan and our windscreen wiper broke on our way. Stuarts son Simon had a garage next to the campsite who specialised in VW campervans and he was able to repair it for us. What a bonus! Thank you Simon!

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The friendly owner was great. He gave clear instructions and did not have loads of unnecessary rules. It has a gated entrance and flat grass pitches, there was plenty of space when we were there. Location suited our needs very well.

Disliked Press button shower, I couldn't stop it! I did tell the owner about this when I left.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Super friendly, made sure to let us know where the nearest pub was for something to eat. Well kept facilities. Way more than anything we’d have expected or previously experienced for £12 a night! Total bargain! Also perfectly level so made the roof tent a breeze to sort out!

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Everything about this site. Friendly and extremely knowledgeable owners of the local area. Nothing was too much trouble, they put themselves out to open and close the gates for your safety.

Showers, toilets and even toilet waste station. They are hoping to improve the shower block next season, by adding an additional shower and separate toilets.

There is a cycle track 2 minutes away that leads all the way into Stratford upon Avon. 2 converted railway carriages along the route providing good food at very reasonable prices. All day breakfast is excellent.

The site itself is extremely quiet at night and black as black with no light pollution at all.

I would highly recommend this site and for the price it is unbeatable.

Local attractions

When you stay here you’ll be just a little way north of the top edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape, so there’s lots of lovely scenery to explore on walks and outings there. Some of the favourite spots nearby include National Trust - Hidcote (10 minutes’ drive), Broadway Tower (20 minutes), Cotswold Lavender (20 minutes) and Batsford Arboretum (25 minutes). For other ways to see some of your surroundings, you may like to take a walk along the eight-mile Blossom Trail from Evesham (25 minutes) – it’s particularly lovely in spring, when all the flowers bloom. A steam train ride from Broadway to Cheltenham on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is another excellent option. To take in some of the area’s history, spend the day in Stratford-upon-Avon (10 minutes), visiting Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Tudor World. The town is also home to the MAD Museum and Stratford Butterfly Farm for family outings. Warwick Castle (25 minutes) is a great choice for a full day out as well, with all sorts of displays, play areas and kids’ activities as well as the medieval castle and parkland to explore.
