Shepherd's hut (Private restroom amenities, two person)

Liked: The relaxed atmosphere, the views day and night. The facilities though cramped, were beautifully laid out. The facility of having ones own shower/toilet is something we have not seen before. Provision of barrows for luggage and the availability of wood for the burners was something we both liked.

Capella bell tent (Private restroom amenities, five person)

Liked: My friend and I holiday every year with our children and we rented the Capella Bell Tent for 2 nights. There are 5 of us and it was the perfect size for us and 3 teenage girls. Fiona the host was great, greeted us on arrival and checked in while we were there. The facilities were lovely and the tent was kitted out really well, we will definitely be back. We walked to Goring along the thames and found an amazing cafe called Pierreponts, the food was great! Had a drink in the Beetle and Wedge on the way back. We also went to Wallingford and hired a boat for an hour from the Boathouse pub and sailed down the river!

Sirius bell tent (Private restroom amenities, four person)

Liked: Lovely environment - quiet and with great views. The night was clear and the site far enough into the countryside that we could see the Milky Way! Tent was spacious with good features (including fridge, kettle, toaster and lights) and comfy beds. Outside area was great and the fire pit worked nicely. The private bathrooms are really nice with plenty of space, and spotlessly clean. The bathroom block is away from the tents, which is good at night, but be aware that it is a short distance if you have mobility needs. Welcoming and helpful hosts. Would definitely go again.

Shepherd's hut (Private restroom amenities, two person)

Liked: Stayed for 1 night in the shepherds hut for mine and my partners first anniversary. The shepherds hurt was so beautiful, quaint and tucked away from the glamping tents so felt private. Stunning location and the stars were beautiful! We also saw an array of wildlife, such as rabbits and deer from our window backing out into woodland! Will be coming back and cannot recommend enough for an affordable and lovely getaway. The hut was clean, cozy and owners left us marshmallows! Not to mention the lovely private bathroom which inside you would never guess was on a glamping site! Thank you so much for our lovely stay.

Liked: The scenery, the peacefulness, everything we could have needed and extras for our stay all included, how beautifully layed out the tent and decors was fairy lights beautiful chandelier, the booklet of the information of our stay everything was included like all the near by places to visit, boat hire, phone number ect everything you could thing to include the best bit in there was the animals and birds over the children loved hunting around for them and as it was in a poly pocket we could unclip it and wan around for a little hunt amazing experience for the kids we managed to find quite a few animals on our hunt. Kids never moaned they were bored once there was loads there for the kids to do swing set, trampoline kids chill out tent with games, learning to make a fire, we can’t wait to book again kids already missing this place :)

Local attractions

Make friends with meerkats, lemurs and otters (plus the odd reptile) at Beale Wildlife Park (10 minutes’ drive), where kids can also jump on bouncy pillows, navigate rope structures and have a go at a zipwire. On your way there, you might want to stop at Basildon Park, an elegant 18th-century mansion known for colourful spring and summer wildflowers in its vast parkland. If your tastes run to aquatic activities, Oxford Wet n Wild (20 minutes) has an inflatable adventure course, plus paddleboards and kayaks for hire. And if you need to realign your chakras (not to mention work your core till it’s sore), you can try SUP yoga. Meanwhile the Oxford Wakeboard and Ski Club (20 minutes) has both open-water swimming and more high-energy pursuits like wakeboarding. Spend a day in the university city of Oxford (35 minutes), checking out its fine medieval architecture and the art and antiquities collections at the Ashmolean Museum. The Oxford Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum (on the outskirts of the city) should appeal to green-fingered visitors.
