Powered gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: The peace & quiet. The good spacious size of the pitch. The facilities & the copious taps of drinking water.

Disliked: Not being warned the cafe was shut. The inside shop wasn’t up to much to compensate.

Liked: Staff were so friendly and helpful. The site was really clean and tidy, with great facilities. We asked if there was any chance of a late departure and as our pitch wasn’t booked the next day we we’re told to leave when we wanted!!!

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely site, very friendly staff. Good toilet and shower facilities. Small shop useful. Access easy. Liked the automatic number plate recognition access barrier. Lovely walks around the site.

Disliked: Site bar and restaurant closed. This was important for us and it appears it has been closed for a while. That's okay, because website says 2 pubs nearby. Closest is permanently closed though! It's easy enough to update a website to avoid disappointment. I wouldn't have booked if I had known this, so guess site owner wouldn't do this. No reduction in fee for loss of facility, though no real surprise. Still a great site though.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: A very nice campsite, very beautiful setting, but not easy to find, the post code did send us somewhere else, approximately 5 minutes away. But once we found it, it was easy to find our pitch, we had arrived a little later than we thought, so it was already dark. Very good facilities, we really like to recommend this camp site

Disliked: at the road it just says Greenhill farm, not Greenhill leisure park, which made it a little bit difficult to find. There was a lovely shop, which we would have liked to visit in the morning. It said the shop is open at 10.00 but it was 11.00 and the shop was still not open, which was very disappointing

Liked: Friendly staff, shown to our pitch which was very large. Shop on site was useful. Lovely lakes for fishing. Very clean and well maintained. Other reviews stated there was noise from the airport, nothing heard after 9.30. Will be returning.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: We got a lovely welcome at reception and then escorted to our pitch which was clear and had plnety of space. There was space for our boys to run around not far from our pitch. The site is kept very tidy and clean.

Disliked: We were the furthest away from the toilet block. In future I would make a note to request to be closer but that’s personal preference. Others I’m sure would be happy to be far away from the toilet block. We also would have liked the option of a fire pit.

Local attractions

Woodland walking is on the cards at Island Pond Wood (20 minutes' drive). Don’t worry, you won’t find a crocodile here… but you may spot more than one or two at Crocodiles of the World (25 minutes). Keep your eyes peeled for more wildlife, including red kites and Duke of Burgundy butterflies, in the ancient woodlands and valleys of Chiltern Hills (45 minutes). Next, go where the fashionable people used to congregate, at the historic house and gardens of Blenheim Palace (five minutes) or Waddesdon Manor (35 minutes). At Bicester Heritage (15 minutes), you can delve into a different history, this time of motoring. Or look into the city of Oxford (25 minutes), where grand libraries and cathedrals stand tall. The same Jurassic limestone that forms the hilly walking district of the Cotswolds (an hour) is on show at the ancient stone circle of the Rollright Stones (25 minutes), another old site to add to the trip’s must-visit list.
