Fenced primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We really like the site, it was quiet and the views were great. We loved the enclosed pitch, meaning we didn't have any worries about our dog while we were there. The toilets and showers were very clean & for the amount of people of site at the time there was enough, (although i imagine maybe if it was busier there might be some waits). The owners of the site were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Disliked: We found the firewood to be a bit expensive (£10/night)

Farmyard powered gravel and cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: Wonderful site Only stayed one night on our way home. Had an EHU pitch really nice area which had a little raised area with table and chairs but plenty of space. Can get WiFi provided which was a plus. Short walk to toilets and showers which were immaculate and well cared for , which are located in the fields behind EHu pitches , and needed to use touch as no lights on the path. But an absolute gem so quiet and peaceful. We walked (took about 15 mins) into village to the beautiful old pub The White Horse inn to have dinner , the food was lovely!! (torch required for the dark country lane walk back ) 5 minutes up the road the village of Deddington with great little village shops and there’s a Co-op if you need any essentials. We will definitely be returning for a longer visit and with the Dogs next time . Wonderful spot, great hosts.

Liked: It is a lovely, friendly and peaceful campsite. The village is lovely and Sunday lunch in The White Horse pub was superb. A visit to the church is recommended.

Farmyard powered gravel and cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: Nice clean pop up campsite, we had our Motorhome in the farmyard electric hook up, small set of toilets and washing up facilities, showers looked good in their little huts, good little info hut, the wifi was faultless for us, we walked into Duns Tew to visit The White Hart, 17th Century pub, fantastic food and live music on a Sunday night which was really good, about 15 Mins walk, was a nice walk back, torches essential though as the camp site is very rural, all in all a cracking little site, we would definitely return if in the area, our Motorhome is quite big (8m), recommend accessing the site by going through Deddington and turning right on to the North Aston Road and going through Duns Tew, the road is a little wider going this way (we were going South).

Hawthorn Field primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (no pets)

Liked: This was our second ever camping trip and what a pleasant experience it was. With it being an adult only site and the pitches being spread apart it was nice and quiet throughout the duration of the day and night. The pitch was bigger than were we’re expecting, there was plenty of space for a good sized tent and an event shelter if anyone was to have one, and there was still plenty of space. The addition of a bench on every pitch was an added bonus too. We saw the owners frequently checking and cleaning the shower blocks, toilets and cleaning sections which was nice to see. We have told our family about the site and are already planning our return for next year!

Hawthorn Field primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (no pets)

Liked: Very spacious pitches, semi private with a good distance from other campers than found on other campsites. Toilets and showers were very nice and were kept spotless. Owners were lovely and very helpful. Beautiful views, particularly for sunset. Very nicely situated for exploring the Oxfordshire section of the Cotswolds. Would definitely book again.

Disliked: Only thing being you’re not permitted to bring your own fire pit or wood. £10 per bucket for wood is slightly excessive - would be happy to pay if I didn’t have any wood, but to not have the option is restricting.

Liked: Views of the country side were amazing, friendly and helpful owners. The campsite is very well thought out and you didn’t feel overcrowded like some sites we’ve been to. Amenities were always clean and tidy. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Local attractions

Staying at Francis Fields, you’ll be just on the edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape, putting you within easy reach of lots of gorgeous walking and cycling routes (and a good number of country pubs to stop at…) Some favourite options nearby include walks around the Rollright Stones, or a grander tour of Broughton Castle (both 20 minutes’ drive). Even grander are the lavish stately home and landscaped gardens (designed by Capability Brown, no less) at Blenheim Palace (15 minutes). If your current togs aren’t up to scratch for such things, hit the outlet stores at Bicester Village (20 minutes). The Cotswolds Distillery (25 minutes) is another good place to shop, with a café and distillery tours on offer too. Other days out nearby might take you into Oxford (half an hour) to tour the colleges and museums or try your hand at the art of punting, or to the high-speed action at the Silverstone circuit (35 minutes).
