Can’t decide between Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire? Your worries are over with a stay at Silverhill Woodland Retreats – this well-established and superbly maintained campsite near Teversal borders both counties – and in fact you can spy three more from the top of Silverhill nearby. Surrounded by countryside, it has a peaceful location and yet is still easily accessible from main road routes. Customer service and superior facilities are the name of the game here – for it has a very glitzy loo block crafted from black marble, with thoughtful luxuries in it like hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. No need to worry about leaving anything at home either, as there is a shop on the site selling camping essentials, coffee and stuff you basically forgot to pack. There are ice creams on hand too, if the kids are behaving. You’ll find a play area on site for your younger offspring, as well as miles of walking and cycling trails directly from the campsite (pick up maps in reception). You can bring any four-legged friends to share in your hikes, or restrict your exercise to a leisurely stroll down to the local pub (five minutes’ walk) for decent grub and a pint.

Liked Spacious service pitch. Lovely large clean shower facilities. Nice to have food van on site. Good walking over the road. Warm welcome on arrival. Large motorhome service point.

Disliked Was quite pricy for a weekend off season. Would prefer not to have to pay extra for the dog.

Liked Lovely site, facilities are amazing and the staff are very friendly! Lovely walks and bike tracks nearby.

Disliked Fully serviced pitch we was on, was on the smaller side, you can’t get your caravan and awning on the gravel. Awning was half on the grass. Would definitely look at booking normal EHU as they are bigger.

Liked We enjoyed the local walks and the pub down the road . just a quick get away . very nice clean site . made us feel welcomed . As a small park if you have children . toilets showers are really nice and clean.

Disliked i would say it's one of the pricey campsites we've been on -- wouldn't say value for money . a little tight swinging motorhome / caravans around, but we got there with one giving directions from outside . only went because not many campsites are open yet.

The facilities are some of the cleanest I've ever seen on a site!!

Our maiden stay in our first motorhome (of course we forgot a hosepipe)
No problem lending us one!
And the toilet block was beautiful!
Spotless and very spacious and modern.

Liked As always a wonderful winter escape. the toilets and showers are immaculate, the site it tidy and quiet, nearby walks are heaven. the elec keeps the heating running so snug and warm. lots of hot water in the shower block. fab little dog wash to clean up the woofers. We love it here.

Liked Everything. Very helpful staff (one chap even helped me reverse onto our pitch which was really nice as it was our 1st time in a touring caravan).
Large pitches and spotless facilities and a great dog walking trail literally just across the road which Bailee loved. I think it was called Silverhill forest.
There’s even a doggy shower near the entrance which is a nice touch.
Good value for money also.

The fabled Peak District National Park (20 minutes) is the gateway to walking, cycling and geo-caching adventures around a multitude of trails including the High Peak and Monsal. You can also up the activity levels with climbing, water sports and caving. Weather against you? Families can still keep active with water slides and a wave machine at Water Meadows Swimming and Fitness Complex in Mansfield (15 minutes).
