What customers say

This working farm site offers clean, well-equipped glamping pods and a peaceful atmosphere. Guests praise the friendly, helpful owners, on-site cafe, and nearby pub. Ideal for relaxation, it offers stargazing, farm animal visits, and nearby walking trails. Wi-Fi in the bedroom & occasional farm traffic are minor points. Highly recommended for a relaxing break.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked We loved our stay, the pods were nice and cosy, modern and clean. It was a nice peaceful place, just what was needed for a few days away. Hosts were very welcoming. We didn’t use the onsite cafe as we bought our own food and used the barbecue provided but it looked nice.
Would stay again. Thank you ☺️

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked Second visit back for us and just as enjoyable as the first. A lovely place for a busy mind to just relax. The owners are friendly especially when being faced with what seemed like a hundred questions about the livestock on the farm :)
Would we come back for a third time? I think it would be a resounding yes from us and the children.
For any park runners, there is ample opportunity to attend the event at Normanby Hall which, is a 10 minute drive from the farm or even travel a little further to Scunthorpe.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked Clear area above to watch stars at night, grassed area to let kids play on. Owner even went out the way and offered to get milk from the next village down for us.
Nice little glamping pods fitted 2 adults and 2 kids nicely.
WiFi available.
Onsite coffee shops with breakfast menu

Disliked WiFi was ok, but found that in the bed you couldn't get WiFi, but could on sofa and outside nicely. Not the be all of end alls.

Farm traffic on the night but again wasn't a massive issue really, could affect some people but we enjoyed it.

Maybe have small essentials in the cafe onsite to sell to customer .

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked We loved our stay here. Clean, well-equipped pods with bedding, cooking equipment etc provided and a good shower. Patio with bbq for the evenings (remember to bring charcoal). Friendly, helpful owners on site and a mobile phone number provided. Off-road dog walks. Nice atmosphere on a working farm. Our young kids enjoyed being able to run freely around the pitch area and loved seeing the farm animals.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked As a young couple who are living busy lives parenting and working in a busy city it made a really nice change in pace to come to cottage farm. The slower quieter pace lifestyle of a small village allowed us to take a breath and enjoy the great outdoors the peace and tranquility helped us get exactly what we wanted from this stay. Being on a working farm was a unique experience we never had before we found ourselves visiting the cows and sheep multiple times at various points through the day being able to get close enough to touch was a really nice experience.

Upon arrival we wasn’t exactly sure where we needed to be and if we need to check in or anything else we scouted around and found the pods and then ran into the farmer on the yard a really polite helpful guy who told us which pod we was in and told us our key was in the door and to go get settled in and where to find him if we needed help with anything. For us we really liked this minimalistic check in if you will we turned up got to our pod and started our break absolutely perfect.

The pod itself was delightful looking at pictures online we were excited and looking forward to see what it would be like in person. We wasn’t disappointed at all it was clean tidy and inviting. Clean bedding and towels awaited us so we could get ourselves set up and organised. Lighting was brilliant the table and chairs were great for putting a spread of foot out or playing games. The bed was in the back in like a little cosy this was a really snuggly little area to wind down on a night it was really cosy we slept really well. The bathroom a fair size with a size toilet and standing shower was perfect and private and far better than a communal sharing area and we really wanted something like this when we were booking and wasn’t disappointed.

On site there is a tea room which is open everyday apart from Wednesday 10-4 of I remember correctly. This was a great little place open to anyone who wants to walk in for a drink or bite to eat. There was many a table inside and the food and drink offered was really good and covered neigh on everyone we stopped for some food to go before we went on a walk on a nearby trail. The staff were really polite and friendly and a real credit to the tea room we would definitely recommend having breakfast or lunch here the prices are fair and quality of food was really good.

Nearby is the Alkborough trail a really good walking trail that was quiet and easy to navigate and had spectacular views a real must for anyone who enjoys a good walk. We ended up doing 20km but for an hour walk on the trail you can come out at an adult only camp site near Barton upon Stather where there is a couple of pubs to rest and wind down.

Disliked Overall I couldn’t give anything of a negative to cottage farm looking before we booked we noticed the reviews were of a high standard and we would follow in suit everything we could possibly want was catered for.

If I had anything at all to point out at it would have been nice to have a small portable tv to wind down and watch on a night we ended up taking an iPad and watching movies via connection to the WiFi but it isn’t a massive deal breaker at all.

Local attractions

If wildlife, playgrounds and peaceful walks sound splendid, you’ll be in your element at one of two local spots: perhaps begin with Waters' Edge Country Park & Visitor Centre (20 minutes’ drive), where there are gorgeous footpaths and playgrounds, or visit the toboggans, animals and playgrounds at The Pink Pig Farm (half an hour). To finish up with woodland walks and more adventure play areas, William's Den (35 minutes) should be the next step on your itinerary. Afternoons of the peaceful sort can also be sought out at RSPB Blacktoft Sands (40 minutes), a nature reserve with walking and birdwatching activities. Those of you who’d like to make your trip a little more water-themed can jump right in the deep end with open-water swimming, watersports and other outdoor activities at Welton Waters Adventure Centre (35 minutes) or plant down on the sand at Cleethorpes beach (50 minutes) for donkey rides, more watersports and access to the pier and boating lake. The city of Hull (40 minutes) isn’t far off either for those of you who’d like to stroll through the tunnels at the Deep aquarium (40 minutes) or visit the Streetlife Museum (35 minutes).
