  • Countryside setting overlooking open farmland
  • Close to Skegness, Ingoldmells, Chapel St Leonards and Mablethorpe
  • Animals including chickens and Icelandic horses
Small but perfectly formed: family-run and family-friendly Simon Field Farm may be a teeny site, but you and the kids will find quite a bit to see and do here – and the seaside resorts of Skegness, Ingoldmells, Chapel St Leonards, Anderby Creek, Sutton on Sea and Mablethorpe are all close by. (Want to leave the car behind? The farm is close to bus stops served by the 59 service between Skegness and Mablethorpe.) Simon Field is set where the countryside meets the coastline, two and a half miles from the sea and at the edge of its local village. Littlies can meet the ponies and help out with collecting eggs from the free-range hens, while all sizes should enjoy hanging out in the wifi area on the grassy terrace. The site also has a small area with a Wendy house and slides for toddlers. There is space for guests to bring their own games for older children. Note, also, that as a small site, there is no facility for disposing of tents, awnings or any other bulky camping items. To help decide what to do when exploring off site, there's an info area with extensive material on the local area as well as bus timetables, taxis and takeaway menus. For eats, both the nearby Red Lion at Mumby and Poppas Bar in Anderby serve good food and drinks.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Camping area was plenty big enough. Wash room great. Very friendly and helpfulfull people you couldn't wish for anyone better. Area not far from other resorts. Easy access and also all gated in so younger children can play without worrying on the play area.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Great little campsite with friendly welcome. All clean and good sized pitches. Nice and level with easy access to the toilet wherever you have your pitch. Short drive to the beach so the location suited us. My son loved the chickens in the coop next to the toilet block and loved saying hello in the morning.

Disliked: A little road noise and from the business opposite but this probably depends on which pitch you get. Ours was only a tall hedge away from the road so you could hear rumble of traffic until quite late and early hours.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The friendliest site we have ever stayed on! Barry and Anita the site owners are absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough to make our stay special. The site itself is well kept, level and with super generous pitches - we easily fitted our 5 man tent, car and trailer onto our pitch with room to spare - and in a great location being just a short drive or bike ride from the market town of Alford, the charming village of Huttoft with it's donkey sanctuary or the seaside delights of Sutton on Sea and Anderby. It's a small site but perfectly formed and as they haven't crammed in the pitches it never felt crowded even when full. There are various animals on site which younger children will love and a small stock of essentials and local produce is available. The loo and shower block is small and if we're being honest a bit dated and shabby but that said they were kept spotlessly clean and there was plenty of hot water at all times and the shower was a proper domestic shower - no rubbish push button here.

Disliked: Loo block could be better but even so it wasn't a problem

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The hosts Barry n Anita were lovely, very friendly n helpful. The facilities were very clean to a high standard. We were non electric, the field we were in had lovely views and of their horses. Local bus for the coast or by short drive. Tried the homemade jam which was delicious n took some home

Disliked: Unfortunately we didn’t have the best of weathers but that’s not down to the campsite, Each morning Barry or Anita did ask how was our night and if we were all ok. Couldn’t have ask for better hosts.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The owners were absolutely fantastic, couldn’t do enough to make our stay better! Thank you both! The horses and chicken were a big hit with the kids, they were very happy just watching the animals. The site is well laid out with smaller fields but also a central area for the kids to play (no fancy equipment needed, just space and a few toys). The toilet block is reasonably basic but has everything you need (ladies has 2 toilets, 1 sink and 1 shower) it works fine as the campsite isn’t massive, it was always kept very clean. The site is a short drive to several lovely quiet beaches and also an easy drive to a supermarket plus other seaside towns and attractions. This site is perfect for what we wanted; small, friendly, nothing fancy, near the beach and value for money - we will definitely be back!

Local attractions

Many options are all around the area for all ages and inclinations alongside the Lincolnshire beaches. You could try wildlife spotting at the Lincolnshire Coastal Grazing Marsh of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust or go and see the seals at Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary; tee off at the 18-hole golf course near Sandilands, or loop around the theme park Fantasy Island at Ingoldmells… Fast types could watch other fast types at the stockcar circuit of Skegness Stadium or the motor racing rounds of Cadwell Park, while those who prefer an easier amble around have several market towns and markets to investigate at the likes of Louth, Mablethorpe and Alford.
