Liked: Small safe location, safe for kids to run around. Plenty of room for bbqs etc… beach/lake quite picturesque. Staff friendly. Phone charging points and lights in tents.
Disliked: Quite a lot of black mould in the tents. Wouldn’t describe this as “Glamping” as there was nothing glamorous in the tent just a mouldy bed frame with a dirty mattress and a couple of scruffy fold out sofa beds, floor covering didn’t cover the floor fully and taken from a smaller tent. I had to remove Snails, slugs and dead wood lice. We found the pictures to be very miss leading. Toilets very dirty and smelly, no soap in the ladies and floors were soaking wet (no toilet roll provided) skipped the showers. Sinks in washing up area filthy, full of old food. Cement factory next door noisy at night. BBQs dirty and don’t forget your fire lighters as they charge a fiver for half a box (£1.40 for a full box). Bonfire in the car park where they burn the waste.

Liked: Allowed go have a fire, and nobody checking on you all the time (never saw anybody) Lady in the shop was nice enough but didn’t seem to know how you get to the train station (see below red locked gate)
Disliked: Locked gates by the river, so if you walk to Harlow you won’t be able to get back (the gates locked) ridiculous and not mentioned anywhere The entrance path is barely passable due to pot holes, suprised people’s suspension haven’t collapsed noise levels are ridiculous, Sunday morning was awoken by shot gun noises.. and I mean loud, sounded like bonfire night The grass is very uneven, lots of holes, quite dangerous really if your having a kick about The men’s toilet cubicle lock was missing so only 1 available, queuing for a number 2 for a long time

Liked: The lake was a great activity for the kids. They loved swimming and catching the little fish. The lady in the office was very helpful and polite.
Disliked: Site is a little ‘rough and ready’. Very basic facilities, but it’s something we’re use to with camping, however I can imagine if you were glamping you’d want more. No catering which was unfortunate. Very noisy at night with the factory, but far more upsetting was the manager (Dan). He started off polite, but he was extremely rude and aggressive. He actually threatened us and left us extremely worried as we were the only ones on the site at the time. Now reading the reviews it’s understandable why on a Sunday in august we were the only ones there. It’s clear he’s been quite unpleasant to many people. Best avoid this site if you can.

Liked: The lake is amazing, sandy beach is great for the little ones, but deep and big enough for swimming and paddle board/canoe. Kids loved the decorations in the toilets. Aqua splash is walking distance and loads of fun. Staff was super friendly and went out of their way to help us, we were very greatful to have the firewood we purchased delivered to our tent.
