Cider Orchard Camping is a peaceful site in the Herefordshire village of Hampton Bishop, about three miles (less than 10 minutes’ drive) from Hereford city centre. Settle in here and you’ll pitch up in the quiet surroundings of an apple orchard in between the rivers Wye and Lugg (a location that’ll be popular with fishing types – this area is known as having some of the finest river fishing in the country…) Canoeing and paddleboarding are great options too, as are (hopefully) sunny walks along the riverbanks (just be aware of strong undercurrents if you’re venturing out on the river). Away from the riverside, there’s much more to do in the area – follow the Black and White Trail to see some of Herefordshire’s best traditional buildings, visit National Trust properties or head up to nearby Colcombe House for orchard tours and cider tastings (don’t worry – it’s a short walk away so no need to drive). Dogs are welcome at this site, and there are plenty of places to take them out for a walk – including nearby Haugh Woods, which has 850 acres to explore (with several bike trails too). A much shorter walk (less than 10 minutes) gets you up to the village pub, a cosy wood-beamed inn in a splendid spot on the banks of the Wye. Back on site, there are simple facilities in the form of a shower and a toilet block, and you can finish up your days out by ordering takeaway fish and chips or placing an order for a delivery of local produce (both available on request).
