Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: The site was lovely. Toilets and showers were clean and well looked after. Staff very friendly and we generally had a really lovely week stay and will definately be back again. Would love to see some form of play area for the kids, but not essential.

Disliked: Little short on number of toilets and showers for busy periods when the site was busy. No where obvious for grey waste. But no real negatives.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely place. Not far off the beaten track but enough to feel like you're away from it. Very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely stay again!

Disliked: Two small things: could do with a children's play area. There may be one but it wasn't obvious. Gate on grey water drainage area needs fixing. Minor things!!

Liked: The pitch had fantastic views, the site has lovely walks around some ponds and the staff are really friendly. The site is a short drive away from Carsington Water, so it’s a perfect location

Liked: Beautiful site run by a lovely family. Did everything to help us have a wonderful stay. Plenty of room for our large tent and even a couple of fishing lakes. Regularly cleaned toilets and showers. We will be back

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Decent location, clean pitches and facilities. Scenic spot with views of a nearby hill. Various walks and footpaths nearby and you can walk up the hill too. Small fishing lake teeming with small carp. Fishing is very cheap too.

Disliked: Limited facilities, 3 toilets and 2 showers for men. Was OK during the week but it filled up at the weekend and their was a queue for the toilet. Toilet area looked a bit rough but too be fair they were having some work done. No play facilties or areas for children, more suitable for older people.

From the manager: Thankyou Andrew for your review, as you said we are having a lot of work doing and making the site better. On pitch up we do state there is not a play park , but there are lots of amazing local activities for families

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Nice friendly site, Jo was a lovely lady, the lake was beautiful, we had great weather so that was a bonus

Disliked: We were on fully serviced pitches so obvs pay a bit more but was disappointed that those pitches didn’t have WiFi but the lower pitches did, wouldn’t normally bother us but we wanted to watch the semi final of the basketball as it was important to us

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for leaving a review, we are semi rural so we dont advertise the wifi as it doesnt always cover the whole site, but great to read you enjoyed your visit

Lovely well cared for family run site, you will need levelling blocks.

Liked: Sites were not on top of each other giving a feeling of space, lovely views too. Easy dog walking. Very well kept site with very friendly staff.

Disliked: The gravel road into the site was a bit noisy but did not distract too much from our stay (minor quibble!).

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Large pitches for the caravan. Small but well stocked shop. Partner had recently started fishing again and loved his time spent around the lake, the fishing was definitely successful. Lots of things to do within an easy drive from the site.

From the manager: Thankyou Tracey for leaving a great review and glad the fishing was enjoyed

Local attractions

There are so many great spot to choose from in the Peak District National Park – perhaps you’d like to go for a family bike ride on the Tissington Trail from Ashbourne (15 minutes’ drive), hop across the stepping stones at Dovedale (25 minutes) or finish up a hike by sampling the traditional puddings in Bakewell (35 minutes)? A visit to the Chatsworth Estate (40 minutes) is a must – for the farm shop, adventure playground and farmyard as much as the house and gardens themselves – and the nearby Kedleston Hall National Trust estate (10 minutes) is another spot that’s worth a visit. For more ideas to keep the kids happy, try the watersports and bike rides at Carsington Water (10 minutes), days out at Gulliver’s Kingdom family theme park (20 minutes) or a cable car ride with splendid views at Heights of Abraham (20 minutes).
