  • Well-maintained peaceful caravan park in the heart of Peak District
  • A 15-minute drive from Bakewell and 20 minutes from Chatsworth House
  • Walks direct from the pitches and a welcoming pub 10 minutes’ stroll
Cows and sheep for neighbours, gorgeous walks from the pitches and the likes of Bakewell (home of delicious almond-flavoured tarts) and Chatsworth House within 20 minutes’ drive… who could turn down a Peak District National Park getaway at Brosterfield Farm Caravan Park? What a stunning and peaceful place it is, too: the camping meadow is surrounded by fields and operates as a quiet site, which means no loud noise or music allowed, please, as the owners want you to relax and get back to nature. Spotless facilities include modern showers, toilets, a pot-washing area and a chemical disposal point. In addition, there are a couple of electric-car charging points as well as recycling facilities in the corner of the camping field. Barbecues are allowed (bring your own from home), and you can stock up on bits for the grill at the supermarket in Bakewell. Your canine chums (up to two per pitch) are also welcome, and luckily, the local pub is dog-friendly (both inside and out) with an excellent restaurant, open fires and good ales. It’s only 10 minutes’ walk away in the pretty village of Foolow, which has a duck pond and is the start of many Peak District walks and mountain-biking trails.

What customers say

Beautiful, peaceful new campsite with spacious, level pitches. Clean, modern facilities (warm showers, good dishwashing areas). Well-maintained and secure with gated entrance. Local pub nearby. Field can get muddy in wet weather, and toilet/shower cubicles can be busy during peak times. Highly recommended for tranquility and cleanliness.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Easy arrival, great instructions via email. Plenty of space to pitch up and we could choose the spot that suited us. Nice warm showers and clean facilities. A great pub within walking distance too.

Disliked Wi-fi isn't great and only 2 toilets and showers

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review and I will pass your comments on to Aaron and Donna who physically look after the site, so they will be very pleased with your feedback.

The Bulls Head is a great asset to us too.

Just to clarify we do have a total of 4 loos and 5 showers and plans for next year to increase these. during high summer season, we do look to bring in extra loos as well.

We have schedule a meeting with our wifi team to extend the wifi so it reaches further to the site too.

Quiet country setting with lots around to visit

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Good walks from the site. Beautiful surroundings. Donna and Aaron were helpful and they keep everything working.

Disliked Perhaps they could police the site more effectively, for example barbacue's on the ground leaving scorch marks.

Local attractions

Hikers can soon be out on the Monsal Trail (10 minutes’ drive), which offers spectacular views over Monsal Dale and the viaduct at Monsal Head. Kids will have fun crossing the stepping stones at Chee Dale (20 minutes), where you can all follow the River Wye through its limestone gorge. Alternatively, families may prefer to spend the day on cable-car rides at the Heights of Abraham (35 minutes), take vintage vehicle jaunts from Crich Tramway Village or enjoy dinosaur trails and adventure golf at Gulliver’s Kingdom (both 40 minutes). Peak District National Park culture vultures among you? As well as a farmyard where kids can meet the animals, stately Chatsworth House (20 minutes) is set in Capability Brown-designed parkland and has a fantastic art collection, while largely 12th-century Haddon Hall (25 minutes) is open for tours of its vaulted banqueting hall and formal Elizabethan gardens. The infamous ‘plague village’ of Eyam (five minutes’ drive) is packed with pretty stone cottages and cute tearooms, and there’s a craft centre at the Jacobean-era Eyam Hall. A former spa town, Buxton (25 minutes) has a lively cultural scene and an acclaimed opera house; book ahead for tickets.
