Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Needed to get away and I chose the perfect site although I was the only person silly enough to go camping in a tent. The site itself has everything you need, toilets, shower and an area to wash up your dishes. (It has far fancier things for warmer weather) However it has views that cannot be beaten, despite the weather I was able to catch some gorgeous photos. Whilst camping I was able to use the one of the site's fire pits and Sharon kindly brought the fire wood to me. Sharon was great, really friendly and responsive! Pointed me in the direction of a lovely Inn which served amazing food and put a nice touch on the trip. I'm really looking forward to coming back when it's nicer weather and I'll be able to use more of the facilities provided.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Local attractions

Got mini members of the family on hol with you? Gear them up for a good time at Gulliver's Kingdom (15 minutes’ drive away), an amusement park for three to 13 year olds with roller coasters, tower rides and a log flume. This action-packed place also has a Jurassic-themed area with animatronic dinosaurs catering to palaeontologists in the making. Picnics are allowed at Gulliver's and a few fast food restaurants are dotted around among the dodgems, ball pit and Princess Play Area as well. And if the teens are in tow? Promise them a trip taking on the thrills of the Nemesis and Oblivion coasters at Alton Towers 45 minutes away. Small fry also love flying above the scenery on the cable car in Matlock Bath towards the Heights of Abraham, a park on top of Masson Hill where a little learning’s added into the mix thanks to cave and mine tours.
