Power optional gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Gorgeous views and super peaceful campsite. Plenty of space and everyone is super friendly. Easily accessible to lots of walks on site and not far from camp. All toilets and showers were immaculately clean.

Disliked: Shower block bit far away

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Beautiful location and scenery , plenty of nice little walks for families with younger kids . The walk to Monyesh just though the back field of the campsite it great . Lots to see and do along the way for kids . We enjoyed a trip to The Bulls Head pub which serves great food. There is a good playground and beer garden with Lama’s over the wall . There are plenty of bigger hikes around that area with streams and waterfalls too The site has good facilities , toilets , showers , washrooms all very clean . Nice little shop with ice cream . Nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere . Great to give the kids a little bit of freedom . The kids enjoyed using the rope swing and making dens on the site with plenty of other children to play with . At £10 each per adult per night and kids free it was an absolute bargain!

Disliked: If you hire the wood burner then try to bring your own wood as they charge extra for this and it’s a little expensive . Other than this everything else was very reasonably priced .

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Brilliant campsite ,beautiful location and facilities . Absolute bargain. Great for young kids to have a bit of freedom . I recommend having a nice walk to Moneyesh following the rout at the back of the campsite , it’s a lovely walk with brilliant scenery and a lovely pub ‘The Bulls Head’ with food and a playground , plus alpacas who like to poke there head over the wall .

Disliked: Take your own wood if you are hiring the fire pit as there is an extra charge for this and it’s the only expensive thing .

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Great location, great mostly level spacious site, great host, Ed could not be more helpful. Fab easy going feel.

Disliked: Showers could do with a refurb as the water supply was intermittent and not always hot.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Setting, views

Disliked: Inadequate facilities, especially for number of campers. Only a trickle of cold water (no hot water) in toilets and washroom near the camping fields, long walk to showers and washing up facilities at entrance to farm, which were satisfactory rather than good.

Local attractions

Scenic walks are to be had along the namesake river in Lathkill Dale, where you can stride out towards Lathkill Head Cave (an hour and 20 minutes’ walk) or marvel at the clear springs at The Blue Waters near the peaceful village of Over Haddon (35 minutes). For a slightly longer ramble, Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow (90 minutes) reward with prehistoric monuments and ancient burial mounds. Combine your stroll around the verdant grounds at Chatsworth House with a guided tours of the mansion’s ornate rooms packed with priceless antiques, or take in the Elizabethan Walled Gardens at Haddon Hall (both 20 minutes’ drive) after you’ve admired the tapestry collection and medieval chapel. For an insight into Peak District heritage, visit the bijou Eyam Museum (also 20 minutes) in the famed ‘plague village’ to learn the story of the Bubonic Plague of 1346–52, or have a wander around the deserted remains of Magpie Mine (five minutes’ drive), which was the last working lead mine in Derbyshire and closed in 1958.
