Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: My family and myself really enjoyed our stay here. The park was perfect for my children and the location of our tent pitch couldn’t have been any more perfect. The swimming pool was an added bonus too! The grass and surroundings was extremely well kept and enjoyable for my children to play safely. We would definitely return.

Disliked: The only thing missing from this holiday park is a pub to be able to go inside for dinner if raining. Also, the toilet block could do with being closer to the camping pitches rather than the lodges who already have their own toilet in their accommodation but I fully understand the toilet block may have been built prior to the locations of camping pitches/lodges/caravans.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: Good shower and toilet facilities. Big play area for children. Really nice location and handy for the main road and Tissington trail

Disliked: We asked for two pitches next to each other which didn't happen. We were able to and allowed to squeeze into one. We were right next to the play area and a lot of footballs hit our caravan and we had lots of children (and adults) walking through our pitch instead of to the entrance.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: Set in a lovely area, a clean and tidy site. Great playground for the younger kids, pool for the adults mainly, nice little shop.

Disliked: Not a dislike as such, but the main toilets and showers are situated a good distance away from the tent pitches. Strangely the toilets and showers are located next to the static caravans and holiday lodgers which have those facilities built in which seems daft.

Camping pod

Liked: Site clean and well managed staff polite and friendly .

Disliked: I wasn’t keen on the camping pod en-suite being outside and round the back of the pod purely being on my own in dark going to unlock door and then going back so I think I’d make sure I got the glamping pod next time with has internal en-suite . I didn’t realise this before ringing them before my visit . Shame no evening venue or coffe shop but had a lovely sales office and swimming pool kiosk serving breakfast baps and burgers at different times of day and a shop with few essentials in . Tissington trail access was brill . Two pubs at fenny Bentley and down trail and up the road another the dog inn . Tearooms at Tissington all close by by foot

Local attractions

The amount of antics available at Alton Towers near Ashbourne Heights might turn grownups grey among the thrill rides, river rapids and other heady highlights of the country’s biggest theme park. You’ll ensure Very Good Behaviour Indeed if you take the family on to Gulliver’s Kingdom at Matlock Bath, designed to keep all ages busy/tired out for later (beware the nerf guns). Other energetic Peak District pastimes include watersports, laser tag, climbing, caving and zipwiring; find out where’s what at Ashbourne’s tourist information centre, which is practised in all things Peak. More peacefully, the Peak District has a high amount of culture and heritage to explore: National Trust houses and estates, the old spa towns of Matlock and Buxton, museums of all sorts, prehistoric cave paintings, three vintage railways and aeons more. Lead mining was a main industry here from Roman times until recently and info on the industry can be mined at the Peak District Mining Museum at Matlock. Bolsover Castle, founded in the 12th century, has regular events to tempt the kids, such as exhibitions on torture for the gruesomely minded, an indoor riding school, and a theatrical room just for little darlings.
