Liked Very very clean. Pool was perfect, good timings, clean. Toilets very clean and showers and never too crowded. Lots facilities - bar, dog wash, laundrette, games room, golf, shop, pool. Free WiFi. Good sized pitches. Also, very nice staff, just friendly and chilled.

Disliked Not the parks fault but no pubs nearby with car parks that seem to be open or advertised. Torridge has very little going on. But next time we’ll just bring more food and stay on site :)

From the manager: Hi Charlotte... thank you for your review on our Widecombe Valley campsite. Your feedback is important to us. I would like to point out a couple of things however... The large firepit is fairly visible as you drive into the campsite on your left. It's around 12ft wide with a dozen or so log seats around it for sitting on. You would have been welcome to have your fire there but unfortunately we do not allow individual fires next to tent pitches for obvious reasons. We are a wild campsite and having no phone reception or wifi is exactly what we are trying to achieve and obviously the Widecombe site is in a deep valley on Dartmoor which will naturally have no phone reception. I think it a little unfair to rate us a 2 for wifi when we were never offering it as a service. We don't have a campsite warden which again is intentional because wild campers want peace and quiet. If people have paid upfront then there is no reason to meet them with such a simple set-up as we have. We have also left information sheets mounted in a plastic wallet on a fence post near the toilets... not sure if you somehow missed this but that gives you all the information you need about fires, parking areas etc etc. As far as facilities and activities are concerned... again what more could you want from this beautiful location with the river running through and views such as you had. We are not a holiday park offering entertainment and associated facilities you may expect from much higher camping fees... the natural environment is all we offer.
