Liked Lovely to be back at Rowbery Farm again for our family campout with the clan aged between 18 months and 92! Becky and Steve are fantastic hosts. The new shop arrives this week so I'm looking forward to seeing that when we next visit

Liked Another fantastic stay at Rowbury Farm ! Although it was 'full' at the weekend (partly due to an event on at Thruxton) it really didn't feel crowded. Arrived on Wednesday and the lovely site managers helpfully directed me to a huge pitch so the rest of my extended family of sister, nephew, niece, and their children could all camp together. Lovely new camping experience for the youngest ones! Sadly no campfires at the moment but completely understand as the ground is so absolutely parched dry.

Liked I'm very picky when it comes to campsites and it is rare for me to stay somewhere in my campervan that really ticks all of the boxes but Rowbery Farm is really up there as one of the best campsites I've ever stayed at, and I've been camping around the UK for 40 years. I stayed there for four nights. Firstly, the pitches are huge and separated by areas of flowers and shrubs, so a perfect balance between ensuring people have their personal space but not making it a manicured holiday park. I was lucky to have the entire site to myself all week but even when there were more people on the site at the weekend there was tons of room. Secondly, this site is very quiet but is easy to access. The lane that runs by site has the very occasional car and the field is so big its easy to park well away from that in any case. Thirdly, the views of rolling countryside, fields and woods are beautiful. This is not the most remote of locations but its amazing that you could not see another house or light in the dark of night. The open sky aspect means you get to see the sunset as well as other weather coming and going (and I had some tremendous thunderstorms which were very dramatic). Fourthly, the facilities are all you need and were clean and well looked after. Whilst it doesn't look much from the outside, the toilet block is heated and the showers are hot, and they are not the push button variety that do irk me on many sites, they are proper electric showers you turn on, and proper soft toilet paper (see, I told you I was picky !). Fifthly, this is a great location to cycle and walk from - I didn't move the van all week and cycled to a variety of locations and one day did a 12 mile walk over to Chilbolton, Wherwell and Harewood Forest which was wonderful. Finally, Claire, the host, was really friendly and was keen to ensure I had everything I needed. Oh, and I almost forget - the firewood at £5 a bag was really decent and dry and I did not come home with everything stinking of smoke even though I had a fire each might. All in all a tremendous find and I will definitely be back ! Great value as well at £50 for four nights. Thank you Claire and Team Rowbery :-)

Liked Wonderful four nights at this gem of a site. Set on a country estate in rolling Suffolk countryside the pitches are spacious and the views fantastic. A tap on each pitch is a luxury when like me you don't have 'running water' in your van. The 'honesty shop' is a lovely touch providing all the essentials and local produce - I bought some tasty local jam. Waymarked walks around the estate are lovely for a stroll. The very helpful and friendly host, Sandra, has really thought this place through ! I had a campfire and even the logs provided were excellent and properly dried.
I came to ride my road bike and the lanes in the area are really peaceful. I rode out to the coast at Orford and Aldburgh which was a 40 mile circuit, very enjoyable, before a 75 ride through picturesque villages in the local area on the Sunday. I also recommend walking to the very attractive local railway station (excellent café) where I got a train a few minutes to Melton and then walked along the river Deben to Woodbridge (an attractive town on the banks of the river) where there is another station.
All in all a perfect stay - I will be back, thanks so much Sandra !
