I am not sure that other reviewers have fully covered the adequacy (or otherwise) of the toilet facilities, so I thought I should give chapter and verse here.
The toilet facilities appear to be built of breezeblock with a rustic wooden facing. Wooden panelling separates the cubicles. Ladies' and gents' toilets are separate but there is no sound-proofing between them; you can hear everything.
The gents has two toilet-pans, one waist-height, stainless steel channel-type urinal, one shower and one small basin with shelf alongside. A mirror, coat-hook and paper-towel dispenser are sited above the shelf. The coat hook is only a few inches above the shelf! Liquid soap is provided. The basin is right by the door and you need to need to move out of the way to let other users pass by. The provision of this one small basin - and the minimal space around it - indicates that it is not intended for a morning wash-and-shave. Visitors should expect to do that at their own tent / caravan / camper-van.
Whilst it is clearly difficult to keep a rough concrete floor completely clean, throughout the week we were there, there were no unpleasant odours in the toilets and I never saw a single spider or spider's web.
The toilet pans seem well maintained (nothing broken and everything secure).
The toilets are not heated and there is only one light serving the gents. The ladies is the same, I am told. The light is at the far end from the shower. As another reviewer has noted, if you want to shower late at night, you'll pretty much be in the dark.
The hot water appears to be provided by a domestic multi-point boiler fired by propane cylinders, with a 15mm water pipe inlet and outlet. The provision of hot water is therefore very much dependant on demands elsewhere in the block. The demands come from the showers and basins (one of each in the gents and ladies' toilets) and the washing-up area (under cover and comprising one basin at the rear of the block). I showered three times and each time the water ran cold sometimes and stopped completely more than once, presumably (although not obviously) because of demands elsewhere in the block, leaving me wondering when (or if!) it would come back on. It did, each time, but it's a bit worrying the first time it happens.
The shower (at least in the gents) is operated by a single lever which controls flow and temperature. There is one high-up shelf and one coat hook. There is no 'dry' area to get changed in, so if you take anything into the shower that you want to keep dry you will need to place it in a waterproof bag and hang it from the coat-hook. A wooden pallet is provided to stand on, so you don't stand in a puddle of water.
In short, the rudimentary nature of the toilets is in keeping with the tranquil and rural nature of the rest of the site. It certainly wouldn't put me off coming back, and even my wife was mellowing in her opinion by the end of the week because we like all the other attributes of the site so much, but fore-warned is fore-armed and the toilet facilities will certainly not be everyone's cup of tea.
Compared with other sites, the low fees here certainly reflect the standard of the facilities, which is another reason that, provided you know what to expect, you can't complain about the basic nature of the toilets.
Frankly, taking all things into account, I didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back.
