It's free, quick and easy!
- On the Costa Brava a short drive from Castell-Platja d'Aro
- Three kilometres from D'aro golf course
- Playground, 24-hour reception, bar and pool surrounded by a garden
Are you the sort who might get a little lost when searching for your accommodation site anywhere around the world? Or perhaps you're more of a late type, because – and rather rightly too – you've parked up along the way on a local beach or stopped off for some succulent regional seafood? Dithering towards your destination is zero problemo at Girona's Camping Castell D'aro: this friendly coastal site has a 24-hour reception so stragglers can check in at any time.
However. Whatever time you finally get your Spanish snooze at, you'll want to be up at first light. For Castell D'aro is bang in the centre of the Costa Brava, at the medieval town and famed seaside resort of Castell-Platja d'Aro, with beaches all around and Barcelona within 80 kilometres.
As you might need a few peaceful hours on site before launching your curious self into the Castell D'aro surroundings, amble around on your first morn to familiarise yourself with the facilities and leisure options around these spacious and scenic grounds. You'll have an outdoor pool to splash around (perhaps do that first), and a peaceful green garden to lounge in alongside (perhaps do that second).
Also around to keep you lazily occupied are a bar with terrace for cocktails under the sun (perhaps do that later), and the means for sporty hours at the pétanque court, volleyball court and football pitch while the kids get stuck into what's on offer at the playground. There's also a ping pong area, and table football at the bar.

Local attractions
The site's local Costa Brava town is Castell-Platja d'Aro, midway between the popular seaside resorts of Lloret de Mar and Begur.
Castell-Platja d'Aro is made up of the medieval centre of Castell d'Aro, and the swish seaside resort of Platja d'Aro with two-kilometre stretch of beach. At the former, hire watersports kit or book a diving trip to get out onto the water; in town, your must-dos are the medieval market and the town castle, as well as days at whichever of the regular festivals are running during your stay.
If you're up for a scenic wander, take the old coastal path of the Camí de Ronda from the main Platja d'Aro beach to several of the smaller ones nearby. Built in the 19th century by the authorities to try and halt the local smuggling trade, the path these days links a handful of tourist towns along the coast, so is a cracking option for historical strolls in scenic surrounds.
