Beach days, bike days, boat days… whichever gets your vote, you’ll be all set in the Zeeland surrounds of Vakantiepark De Zeeuwse Parel. This family-friendly park is right on the Eastern Scheldt estuary, a few metres from a sandy beach and just across the water from the De Pluimpot nature reserve, a popular area for hiking and cycling. Rent bikes from the site, or have a go at some of the watersports on the estuary: just outside the grounds are a couple of spots for diving, plenty of space for sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing, and a ramp for launching a boat. Not been able to bring a boat? Site staff have other ways of keeping you amused, whether you're young or old. Entertainment is held Wednesday and Saturday afternoons in high season, and activities like barbecues, dance evenings and bingo are organised at weekends. Older kids might like to sign up to the activities organised on site, from crafts to laser games, while younger ones frolic at the playgrounds and sandpit. For more kids-friendly activity there’s also a trampoline park. On top of all that, there's a leisure facility with a fitness room, sports and padel courts and tabletop games such as pool, curling, table football, table tennis and air hockey. There is also an interactive play wall with numerous games and a heated outdoor pool with a large sunbathing lawn and kids' pool. Opposite the pool, unwind by eating delicious food at the pavilion terrace or visiting the wellness facilities which include a sauna, sunbed and massages. Barbecues are allowed if you’d rather do your own cooking; pick up supplies from Scherpenisse or Sint-Maartensdijk (both about 10 minutes away by bike). For explores further afield, the park’s 15 minutes from Tholen, half an hour from Bergen op Zoom and a 35-minute drive from the famed seafood suppliers of Yerseke.

  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
  • No charcoal barbecues allowed.
  • Reception is open 10am-5pm on weekdays and 11am-4pm on weekends.

Clean, well-kept park, friendly staff, spacious sites, quiet vibe, close to a nice dog-friendly beach. Showers, loos, pool all good. On-site eats got a thumbs up. Mostly great, but lots of mobile homes and dodgy Wi-Fi. One bad booking experience, with management citing non-payment.

Liked Everything ! The Staff were so friendly and helpful. We had never been to this part of Holland before and the surrounding area was lovely. We booked the Padel Court through the Playtomic App, We had drinks and snacks in the restaurant which were really good and we also booked the Sauna which was lovely, very clean and very relaxing. The pitch was good and we liked the facilities. We had a lovely stay and left refreshed and ready for our next adventure.

Disliked Arrived late. Turned out they don’t take checkins after 17:00. Travelling on motorbike took 4 hours to reach destination, tired and needing rest arrived at about 21:00 to find no where to checkin and an email stating this and that they had cancelled the booking. So had to book hotel in nearest town. A little flexibility for exceptions.

From the manager: Geachte heer, u heeft via Pitchup een last minute booking gemaakt, die u niet betaald heeft. Herhaaldelijk hebben wij geprobeerd telefonisch contact met u te krijgen, wat helaas niet lukte. Ook heeft u nooit terug gebeld.
Als wij en geen betaling hebben ontvangen en geen bericht, hoe laat u wel te verwachten bent, kunt u ons niet kwalijk nemen dat wij de reservering annuleren en om 18.00 de receptie sluiten.
Als u ons op de hoogte gehouden had, hoe laat u te verachten bent hadden wij heus wat geregeld om u ook nog om 21.00 in te laten checken.
Dat u voor een gesloten deur staat is geheel aan u eigen gedrag te wijten.

Liked Having a toilet in the field we pitched our tent at was really handy . A water tap in the field was also very handy. The staff in the office were incredibly friendly and helpful. My 13 year old daughter loved the outdoor swimming pool. The kitchen, shower facilities are a 5 minute walk away and were always spotless ! Great lively bar on site, that does burgers and looked a lot of fun. We never went in.

Disliked This is nothing to do with the camping ground, but we went to this area for 'the beaches' after reading somewhere that this area had great beaches. Errrrr no. There is a small 'bay' , minutes from the campground,which is really handy . The bay is sheltered by a rock wall, which is handy for small kids....however the bay is covered in broken sharp shells so you need to wear shoes. Also the water is a muddy colour. We tried to find a better beach but didnt find one nearby , as most have rock sea defences (for obvious reasons) .

Liked Plenty of facilities, eg bikes for hire and cafe/bar. Well sited for exploring the coast and island. Clean and well-functioning showers. Helpful staff in reception.

Disliked No parking-up area on arrival and difficult turn through barrier. Rather cramped area for tents and tourers. Wi-Fi didn’t work at all.

Take a turn around the pretty De Pluimpot nature reserve (10 minutes’ walk) or challenge yourself to something a tad more taxing by shinning up the walls at Climbing Brabantse Wal BV (25 minutes’ drive). Those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the floor may like to head to Crazy-Golf Bergen op Zoom (25 minutes) instead. Stick around in Bergen op Zoom for a wander among the traditional houses, climb De Peperbus tower and visit the Markiezenhof, a palace that dates from the Middle Ages and is said to be the oldest in all the land. If you’ve an eye for pretty towns, stop by in Tholen (15 minutes); for something rather more exotic aim for Berkenhof Tropical Zoo (40 minutes). And if it’s your tastebuds that tend to dictate your choice of days out, take a tour of the oyster beds in Yerseke (35 minutes), visit the seafood-themed museum and then feast at one of the village’s seafront restaurants.
