  • Peaceful forest site five minutes’ drive from Rorà in Piedmont
  • Hiking and cycling from the pitches; Torre Pellice 25 minutes’ drive
  • Café and bar on site; traditional trattoria five minutes’ walk
Anyone looking for a nearly wild camping experience in forested Piedmont foothills should get themselves along to Camping Il Glomere on the double. At five minutes’ drive from the alpine village of Rorà, this lush and verdant site sits in a beech forest at an altitude of 1,100 metres, and its grass pitches are cool, shaded and peaceful. Walkers and cyclists can hop onto forested trails from the pitches, and after a day’s adventuring in the spectacular surrounding countryside, you can settle back down to a cappuccino or glass of local Barolo in the café/bar. Breakfast is available there too, or you can plunder the grocery store in Rorà and rustle up your own meals on the communal campfire. If you’re swerving the cooking while on holiday, there’s a rural trattoria five minutes’ walk away for refuelling on locally cured meats and agnolotti stuffed pasta. When you’d rather hang out on site during the day, there are picnic tables scattered about the place and games available to keep kids busy. Practical amenities are pretty good considering how remote the site is: an accessible and modern facilities block with reliably hot showers, optional electric hook-ups and dishwashing sinks.
