- Small Sauerland motorhome site 10 minutes' drive from Lennestadt
- Galileo Park 10 minutes' drive; Biggesee 25 minutes
- Dog-friendly site with play area and access to Melbecke Valley walks
‘Pure relaxation’ is what it's all about, say the owners of Ferienhof Verse, a small Sauerland site surrounded by peaceful countryside and about 10 minutes' drive from the town of Lennestadt.
The motorhome pitches here are equipped with power connections and have access to both a wifi service and a central drinking water point. Dogs are welcome, and will have plenty of space to run about, and there’s a play area where you can keep the kids entertained as well.
The pitch area is part of a nature reserve (established in 1981), so keep an eye out for rare orchids at ground level and plenty of birds flying overhead or nesting in the trees that surround the site. Want to see more? There’s direct access into the forest and the Melbecke Valley, which has lots of great options for walks and bike rides. The owners are happy to give you some tips on routes that suit your style.
There are picnic tables around the pitches and you're welcome to bring a barbecue, so outdoor meals can certainly be part of the plan here. The site offers a bread delivery service, and there are more shops and a good-sized supermarket about five minutes' drive away.

Local attractions
Once you've admired your immediate surroundings, set off to see more of the scenery, perhaps with visits to places like Atta Cave (15 minutes' drive), where you can head underground for a fabulous display of stalagmites and stalactites, or Biggesee (25 minutes), which has lovely walking and bike trails as well as the chance to swim or sail.
Exploring more of the area's history might start at Galileo Park (10 minutes), which also throws some intriguing science into the mix, and then continue on to the aesthetically pleasing black and white houses of Alter Flecken (40 minutes) or the varied attractions of Siegerlandmuseum (45 minutes), which has an art gallery above ground and a small cave mine underground.
If you've brought the kids on holiday, check out the animals and activities on offer at Panorama Park (half an hour) or splash around the indoor and outdoor pools of SauerlandBad (25 minutes). Travelling without children? Perhaps a tour of Krombacher Brauerei (half an hour) would be more your style.
