- Within easy reach of Quimper, Pont-Aven and Concarneau
- Heated pool with waterslides, snack bar and free wifi
Just look at that bar terrace. Sink into a seat here for spectacular sea views from over the top of your Brittany beer glass: Camping le Cabellou Plage is on the spectacular Cabellou Peninsula, with direct access to the fine sands of Belle Etoile beach, a place of blue waters dotted with boats.
There's easy access too to the area's inlets, typical of this part of Brittany coast, with secluded coves and more golden beaches available by the dozen within a short drive. The whole heap is opposite the coastal town and ancient stronghold of south Brittany's Concarneau, one of the most famed destinations of the region, and a nifty base for others such as Pont-Aven and Quimper. Fishing, hiking, horse riding and cycling are all available nearby.
Acclaimed as 'by far the best site in Brittany' by one contented regular customer, this fab Finistère site has highlights galore alongside its access to the beach and weeks' worth of jetting around sands and coves (Finistère has over 1250 kilometres of coastline for you to get your sandy groove on).
There's a friendly vibe and a spectacularly scenic setting, a beaut pool with waterslides, a games room and free wifi at the bar, along with a snack bar, evening entertainment, fishing and a hot tub. A food shop is on site too, but if you want to forage further, the bus going past the site will take you to a couple of big supermarkets, on its regular journey to Concarneau.
Camping le Cabellou Plage also has a launderette, hot showers and completely refurbished toilet blocks.

Local attractions
The handsome village of Concarneau has a famed fish market (get up early, it starts at 6am) as well as a fishing museum, covering the importance of the industry to the town's history.
Also visit the peaceful town of Pont-Aven, known for its historic watermills along the banks of the Aven river, and its main bridge lined on both sides with traditional streets and small side streets such as the Rue des Meunières. Pizzerias, creperies, traditional restaurants, shops and bars are all around town too.
Just outside the town, arty sorts should like the small Chapel of Tremalo, with the wooden cross that inspired Gauguin (who came here to establish a studio in the late 19th century) to paint The Yellow Christ. Back at Pont-Aven, an extensive collection of regional work is at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Pont-Aven.
At Quimper, see the Cathedral of Saint-Corentin, its traditional market in the city centre and the Palais des Eveques, built in the middle of the 17th century and home to the local bishops.
There's also another fab art museum here, the Musee des Beaux Arts, with paintings from local artists and those from the Pont-Aven School of painting); also see the Breton Museum, with exhibits on the town and region.
