  • Peaceful and adults-only farm site in Monmouthshire countryside
  • Offa’s Dyke Path direct access; Bannau Brycheiniog 10 minutes’ drive
  • Licensed cider house with an honesty bar; fishing rights on the farm
With Offa’s Dyke Path and the Three Castles Walk running through the grounds and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park 10 minutes’ drive away, the adults-only, pop-up site at Great Tre-Rhew Farm and Cider House is a haven for walkers, castle-spotters and general lovers of the outdoors. If you choose to pitch up here, you can ramble the Monmouthshire countryside by day and return to base camp for a restorative glass of cider in the historic and fully licensed cider house, where there’s an honesty bar. It’s all too easy to unplug and unwind on this 300-acre carbon-neutral farm, and not just because there’s cider on tap. The spacious grass pitches (pick your own) sit between the orchard and a burbling stream, where otters and kingfishers can often be spotted. There are two miles of fishing rights on the property, and on clear nights you can keep an eye open for stellar displays in the dark skies far above you. Pick up supplies in Abergavenny (10 minutes’ drive), and if you don’t feel like cooking, there are several pubs and a Michelin-listed restaurant within 15 minutes’ drive. This is a back-to-basics site with no showers, but there is a toilet block made from upcycled wood and drinking water is supplied.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Kate and Jim were lovely and made a point if speaking with everyone a couple of times a day. The field is flat with great views and walks straight from the farm. They are very much conservationist and had restricted the number due to lack of rain. I was in a tent and there were with 3 mobile homes and a group in the converted barn.
With a big barn with several sofas and WiFi plus a fridge full of ciders and a caravan with another sofa and books tomorrow everything is catered for. Wish there was a shower but the loos were plumbed in and clean and a sink outside for washing up and drinking water.

I will be back again

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked Everything!
It's a really lovely site and Kate and Jim were fantastic hosts. The toilets were spotless. The 'beach' (with it's deck chairs) and the caravan with books in are great additions. The cider barn, with it's honesty box, was so lovely (as were the ciders).
There are some nice walks around, and the vineyard right next door tops off a fantastic trip.

Disliked Not a dislike, just an observation - you have to go to the cider barn to get wifi.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely site with some good dog walking trails, the owner was really accommodating especially as we turned up a little late, friendly and nice to talk to. There is a barn with wifi and a cider fridge, few games like darts etc and a couple of sofas.
toilet block and bin store was always clean/tidy. Little to no phone signal on the camp grounds itself but there is the barn with WiFi and cider

I would recommend a visit and would be more than happy to book again.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked Idyllic countryside setting with super-friendly owners. Spotlessly clean loos plus an outdoor washing up area, recycling facilities & water from a natural spring. Teeming with wildlife, including otters, green woodpeckers, kingfishers, hares, housemartins, swallows & swifts. White Castle is only 3 fields away & the market town of Abergavenny is about 10 minutes drive. For foodies, the Michelin star Walnut Tree is just down the road, plus there's a Vineyard a field away. We cooled off in the babbling brook running through the farm, borrowed books from the caravan library & chilled out in the cider house watching the swallows flying in & out. Perfect!

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked A truly peaceful and remote campsite, exactly what we were looking for. The site was large and well-spaced, offering plenty of privacy and quiet, which made for a very restful night's sleep. We loved being surrounded by nature and even spotted some local wildlife during our stay. The area is rich in history, including their own cider-making, which added a unique and personal touch to the experience. Kate and Jim were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We would definitely return!
