  • Adults-only Anglesey pop-up site right next to Porth Trecastell beach
  • A five-minute drive from Rhosneigr surf schools and more beaches
  • Summer festival vibes with a horsebox bar, music and food trucks
Surfboards and swim gear at the ready – at Camp Bongo, you’ll be able to scramble out of bed and hit the water within just a few minutes. Not in the mood to be active? Stay cosy in your bed or crawl to your camping chair and just enjoy the sound of the waves and the views of the sea. All of this is possible because this adults-only pop-up site in Anglesey is in a truly fabulous location right next to Porth Trecastell beach, also known as Cable Bay. Designed as a playground for adults with a summer festival camping vibe, the site has a horsebox bar that runs throughout the season, plus an ever-changing line-up of music, live entertainment, daytime activities and food trucks. Depending on when you visit, you might be able to join kayak tours, ‘paint and sip’ sessions or cocktail-making classes by day before picking up pizza or fish and chips for dinner, and later settling at the social area to watch the sunset or catching some live music in one of the intimate performance spaces. Of course, the beach is always an option too – especially if you’re a surfer. For those who’ve not quite learned the art yet, there are surf schools and kit hire in Rhosneigr (five minutes’ drive away). Walks on the coast path are popular too (particularly if you’ve brought your dog along). Camp Bongo operates in an eco-friendly manner, with compost toilets, cold showers and freshwater standpipes to clean the sand off your feet.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Loved the site we stayed in our tent. Loved the live music, cocktails and food stalls. Everyone was lovely, great atmosphere and really dog friendly. Great idea for pop up site. Has compost toilets located all round the site and cold showers which are refreshing the next morning, after previous evening of drinking and dancing. Beautiful beach 5 min walk away.

Disliked Nothing we didn’t like loved the idea of none electric pop up site.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Camp site was great with good entertainment, friendly people and quite a few things to do locally.

Disliked Only problem was the bouncer/security, quiet time is 11:30 which is fair enough and understandable but we were told while we were sitting around the fire that if we don’t put it out within 5 minutes we’d be kicked off site, also if quiet time was 11:30 for people to be able to sleep then the securities massive torch woke me up atleast 3 times through the weekend lighting up my tent like a beacon.

Gorgeous views, brilliant campsite.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked The view was amazing. Staff friendly. The barn was amazing with different food stalls each day and cocktails & live singer. Really good campsite we enjoyed our stay.

Disliked - Paid £8 for a cocktail in a big cup one night and the next night they charged me £8 but it was in a very small cup.
- The quiet time at 23.30 :( felt abit early and they are strict on it

From the manager: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the stunning views, found our team friendly, and had a great time at the barn with its variety of food stalls, cocktails, and live music.

We appreciate your comments regarding the cocktail sizes and quiet time policy. We aim to offer consistency and value in everything we do, so we’ll certainly review this with our team to ensure clarity and fairness with the cocktails. I'm sure it was a simple mistake by our busy team.
As for our quiet hours, we understand it may feel a little early for some, but it helps us maintain a peaceful environment for all guests and local residents, and especially anyone getting up early for a hike or other activities.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to welcome you back for another enjoyable stay.

Nice friendly staff, great spot to camp.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked Sea view and access to fab beach's. Cocktail bar in a horsebox. Clean compost toilets. Laid back atmosphere apart from security that patrol at night.

Disliked Price is a bit steep considering there were no showers (apart from unisex open and COLD water showers!

From the manager: Thank you for your great review.

I feel like we should point out that the showers are not unisex, they are split into a male and a female section and are sign posted as such.

We are glad you had a great time, and we hope to welcome you back soon.

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked It was easy to see how this site would be on a sunny weekend. The communal area was pretty and the fish and chip van was lovely. The entertainment on Saturday night was very good. Staff were very happy and helpful at all times.

Disliked Unfortunately, the weather was very windy so we didn't get to experience the full atmosphere but this can't be helped.

Nice place but very expensive for what you get

Unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked It was close to two stunnng beaches, perfect for paddle boards etc, amazing sunset. friendly host.

Disliked Sorry to give this review but feel honesty is best, the singer in the evening sang mostly really miserable songs, even one of his own songs that he told the audience he wrote when he was caring for his terminally ill Dad, I have complete empathy for him but this was not appropriate for the audience who were on their holidays, too many sad / funeral songs for me.

Extremely expensive at £25 a night. Not even Elsan here

Local attractions

The beach by the site is a lovely one, but on an island like Anglesey it’s well worth getting out to explore as much of the coastline as you can – perhaps taking in a sunset at South Stack Lighthouse (25 minutes' drive), visiting the gorgeous Newborough beach (25 minutes), backed by dunes and pine forest, or taking a boat trip to Puffin Island from Beaumaris (half an hour). While you're in Beaumaris, you should certainly stop by to visit the imposing but unfinished Beaumaris Castle. The National Trust’s Plas Newydd House and Gardens (25 minutes) is another option for those who like to poke around in a grand building with gorgeous gardens. Anglesey has plenty to keep you busy for days on end, but there’s also the option of heading back to the mainland to explore Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park – perhaps hiking, riding the Snowdon Mountain Railway (35 minutes), trying all the adventure activities at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (35 minutes) or heading to the cute village of Betws-y-Coed (50 minutes).
