Portmeirion folly village

  • Gwynedd touring site in the grounds of Portmeirion village
  • A 20-minute drive from Harlech beach; Zip World Llechwedd 25 minutes
  • Hardstanding pitches with electric hook-ups and drinking water
Now here’s a rare chance to see Gwynedd’s Italianate folly of Portmeirion out of hours and without the crowds. At Portmeirion Motorhome Park, the pitch price includes entry into the village itself – and as an added bonus, you also get complimentary use of the heated outdoor swimming pool. For those who aren’t yet familiar with the pretty Portmeirion village, the buildings are Italianate in style, although the village is on the north coast of Wales and sits right on the edge of Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia). While you’re there, make the most of the village’s attractions: go shopping for patterned Portmeirion pottery, or choose between fine-dining restaurants and cafés selling regional produce to stave off any hunger pangs. If you’re in the mood for some R&R, your best bet is to book a rejuvenating treatment at the village’s luxury spa. But back to those touring pitches. The motorhome park is sheltered by trees and planted with colourful hydrangeas, so it's a peaceful and pretty place. The hardstanding pitches are all serviced with drinking water and an electric hook-up and can cater for all sizes of motorhomes and campervans. A clean shower block is also on hand and includes accessible amenities.

What customers say

Top-notch, spotless campsite in Portmeirion village. Spacious, private spots, great amenities (hot showers!), and super friendly staff. Village entry & hotel pool access are a bonus! Minor Wi-Fi hiccups & some noise noted. Recommended for location, quality & peace.

Liked Fantastic facilities and helpful staff. A very clean site, we loved swimming in the outdoor pool. Lovely to be able to walk around Portmeirion in the evening with all the lights on and only a few other people. One of the best sites we have stayed on :-)

Liked Where do I start! Couldn’t ask for a better site with the full availability of Portmeirion during your stay. When I say full that also includes the outdoor heated pool with towels included. The site pitches are lovely and private with benches to each pitch. Showers are probably the best I’ve used so far. Worth paying the extra premium considering what is available. Would highly recommend!

Disliked Shame there’s no bench or stool in the shower cubicle, there is one but in the communal toilet/sink area.

Liked Facilities were really nice. Shower was clean and lovely, can control the temperature and not a push button in sight! Dishwashing area is small but set up really well. Pitches are private, we had a table on ours too which was nice. You can use the pool on site which is great, and you get access to the village on the day you check out too, they just ask you to move your van to the car park. Free WiFi was also really good. Overall a fantastic site and good value too given what’s included.

Liked Lovely large and level pitch with all facilities on hand.
Portmeirion is a beautiful village well worth the visit
Entry to the village is included in the pitch fees.
You are also allowed to re enter the village on the day of departure once you have moved your motor home from your pitch to the car park which isn’t made clear on their website.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

If you’re keen for a game of golf while on holiday, you'll be pleased to hear that Portmeirion Motorhome Park is just 20 minutes’ drive away from a golf course overlooking the sea. Rather conveniently, the course is next to Harlech beach, a windswept bay with dunes and mountain views, as well as Harlech Castle, a grand building with turrets and a suspended wooden footbridge. This whole area is pretty well endowed with historic sites, from the ruined 13th-century Criccieth Castle (20 minutes' drive) above Tremadog Bay to the Ffestiniog Railway (25 minutes), which runs heritage train trips through Eryri to see the mountainscapes in old-fashioned style. Llechwedd Slate Mines and Zip World Llechwedd (25 minutes) are other fine spots to add to your plans – venture into the Victorian slate mines or brave the speedy Titan zipwire for a proper burst of adrenaline. For a more sedate outing, head to Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife (15 minutes). It's open during high season only, but you’re in with the chance of spotting ospreys – for wildlife fans that's surely something to boast about.
