What customers say

Bryn Llys is a lovely CL site with spotless, hotel-quality washrooms. Campers loved the peaceful vibes, beautiful grounds with wildlife, and the friendly host, Carlo. Great spot for North Wales adventures, near walks and Zip World. Minor gripes: early departure, no washing-up area, but overall, a ripper!

Liked Lovely quiet site with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Close to Zip World and a short drive to other locations.
Site was well maintained and the toilets and shower block were always clean.
We were also fortunate enough to have a ride on the miniature railway for a donation. Pitches relatively flat as well.

Disliked We loved the site and it worked well for us. A local pub or playpark would have made it even better but not a deal breaker. The nearest ones were a 5 minute drive away or 20 minute walk.
Pitch was a little tight for the campervan and awning.

Liked Beautiful site, great modern facilities and the owner is still developing it in a tasteful and unique way. Gardens and woods are magical. Fully serviced pitches had great views, lots of space and overlook a meadow. Easy walk to village through woods and lots of walks nearby. If you are lucky with the weather great star gazing too.

Disliked No washing up facilities yet but it’s coming.

Liked Beautiful setting. Grounds are amazing, lovely lake to walk around. Toilets were clean and set to a high standard. Shower room was incredible, only downside was we had to pay £1 for 5 minutes in the shower. Luckily enough we had some cash on us as we didn’t see this on the advertisement.

Disliked No washing up facilities.

Liked We stayed at this lovely CL for 3 nights. It is very well presented and the facilities are clean and tidy. Lovely walks directly from the site. Lots of wildlife and particularly listening to the owl’s after dark. I would highly recommend this lovely place to all.

Disliked Only reason I did not score a 10 is the early departure time. It is a bit too early having to depart by 10:30am. I don’t understand such an early departure time when you cannot arrive any earlier than 2:00pm.

Route directions

Avoid using satnav as this will direct you down a narrow dead-end lane. Instead, exit the A55 at Junction 11 for Bangor. Head for Zip World and Bethesda. Drive through the village and turn right, signposted Zip World. From the A5, take the first left into the village, signposted Zip World. Follow the road past the entrance to Zip World, and continue for half mile past a row of single-storey cottages on the left. Look out for the site signs on your right after two sharp bends.

Local attractions

Once you’ve chuffed around the grounds on Bryn Llys’s own miniature railway, head for the full-size train ride up Eryri from the Mountain Railway Station (20 minutes’ drive). Another vintage steam train runs through stunning landscapes on the Beddgelert Welsh Highland Railway (35 minutes). Bryn Llys sits on the doorstep of Eryri National Park, offering easy access to climbing, hiking and biking in spectacular mountains and valleys. Cyclists and walkers can follow the Lôn Las Ogwen or Eryri Slate Trail from Bangor (15 minutes), and if you want to try some more fear-inducing activities, the notorious Velocity zipwire runs across Penrhyn Quarry at Zip World (five minutes). The site is also a handy base for exploring fantastic beaches like sandy Traeth Llanddwyn (40 minutes) on Anglesey. While you’re there, inject a bit of culture into your holiday with a tour of the art collections and manicured grounds at National Trust-owned Plas Newydd House and Gardens (20 minutes). Skip back to the mainland across the landmark Britannia Bridge (15 minutes) to discover the mighty castles at Conwy and Caernarfon (both 25 minutes).
