Loch katrine

  • Hardstanding motorhome pitches in the Trossachs Pier car park
  • On the banks of Loch Katrine with direct access to the Trossachs Trail
  • Next to a café and departure point for loch cruises
Somewhere scenic to park your motorhome in Stirlingshire? Take a look at the touring pitches at Trossachs Pier – this location is in a fabulous spot right on the banks of Loch Katrine and in one of the UK’s largest National Nature Reserves, the Great Trossachs Forest. Technically speaking, these pitches are in the pier’s car park, but there’s rather more to it than that, as you’ll have access to toilets and showers (for an extra charge), wifi and a café serving up breakfasts, lunches, hot drinks and the like. There’s also bike hire in the car park, and it’s the departure point for various passenger cruises. Boat trips run regularly through the day but the top pick for many visitors is a ride on the Sir Walter Scott steamship, which has sailed on the loch since 1900. Once you’ve explored the loch thoroughly, don’t plan to move on too quickly – this site is located on the 40-mile Trossachs Trail for walks and bike rides, and there’s plenty more to see and do around the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, whether you’re planning to bag a few Munros, go fishing, play golf or explore some of the area’s history.

What customers say

Awesome spot on Loch Katrine, rave reviews for epic views & chill vibes, especially off-peak. Staff are legends, loos are spotless (24/7!), cafe's a winner. Some spots are a bit sloped but the hard stands are decent value with power available. Boat trips & walks are a must. Just a heads-up on limited rubbish disposal & the odd power glitch.

Liked Car park camping done well. It’s was a cold time of the year when we went so it wasn’t busy at all. The shower room was heated and was absolutely worth the extra money for the trip. Discounted boat trips if you camp but the view from the new(ish) lookout point is worth the trip all on its own.

Power optional concrete slab motorhome site (XL)

Liked It's becoming one of my favourite places regardless of the rain this weekend. I took a tea time walk with the dogs yesterday and the view around the loch was just surreal as the mist was coming down the hills so refreshing for the soul.
Although not a campsite it offers everything you need. Toilets, showers, electricity and water. We can wait until we get home to empty waste water and portaloo as there is nowhere on site but that's not a problem.
For £12 a night without electricity but free wi fi, lovely wee gift shop, takeaway and cafe it's excellent. Also the carpark is right next to the lake and they have lovely wee lights all over the pier. They are putting up more for Christmas just now
Wee bought the deal from 5pm which includes the sir Walter Scott cruise and afternoon tea for £39 plus a couple of pounds admin fee. So definitely give the place a try.

Local attractions

Want to spend as much time as you can in the open air? Maybe you’d like to swing through the trees at Go Ape Aberfoyle (15 minutes’ drive) or stay firmly on the ground at Aberfoyle Golf Club (20 minutes). The 50,000-acre Queen Elizabeth Forest Park (20 minutes) has pony treks, lots of wildlife watching and Britain’s biggest off-road cycle trail network. For the daredevils among you, local activity centres can also sort you out with days of quad biking or watersports. And of course there are a few mountains around for the climbers – Ben A’an (three minutes to the trailhead) is your nearest, and Ben Lomond (55 minutes) is also popular. In the mood for something a bit gentler? Take a wander around pretty Callander (20 minutes on the river Teith, or explore 14th-century Doune Castle (35 minutes). A little further afield, Blair Drummond Safari Park (40 minutes) and Stirling Castle (45 minutes) are great picks.
