Native broadleaf woodland along the edge of the park

  • Peaceful woodland park on the Black Isle peninsula
  • A 10-minute drive from Inverness; Aviemore 35 minutes
  • Easy access to major roads, including the North Coast 500
Whether you’re exploring the city of Inverness, driving the North Coast 500 or simply enjoying the spectacular shorelines of Ross, Cromarty and Moray, fast-track your way to relaxation at Kessock Caravan Park. With a relaxing atmosphere and very pleasant views, this place is a quiet woodland park on the edge of a sheep and Christmas tree farm in the Black Isle area of the Highlands. There’s no trouble getting here – the private site is easy to access, with good accessibility from a number of major trunk roads including the A9, A96 and A835. Then, once you touch base, you’ll be able to unwind on well-maintained and spacious grounds, with native woodlands on one side and fir trees (a varied landscape if you ever did see one) on the other. Naturally, that means lots of wildlife come to call here too, especially birds – just keep your eyes peeled on the farm for buzzards and red kites, a particularly common sight. Kessock Caravan Park is about a mile from the small village of North Kessock, an attractive spot on the Beauly Firth with a range of cafés, pubs and places to stock up on food. The larger city of Inverness can also be easily reached via the Kessock Bridge within 10 minutes.

What customers say

A peaceful, tidy woodland site with private, flat spots. Clean, modern showers/toilets are a hit. Great base for exploring and the North Coast 500. Hosts are ace, arrival's a breeze. Watch out for busy periods, Wi-Fi can be spotty.

Liked Its quiet and peaceful, set amongst pine trees and grass. The individual pitches feel private, and are hard-standing with pretty good drainage. Facilites are very clean - and heated - which was a big bonus in November when I stayed. There are also washing machines - for which you pay extra - should you need them.

I stayed several nights as its an excellent base for exploring the Black Isle and surrounding area including Loch Ness and even the west coast which is only 60 miles away.

Liked Very pleasant little site in a lovely location. Hard to believe it’s so close to Inverness as it is so quiet and secluded. The facilities were excellent - so clean you could eat your dinner off the floor and lovely warm water. We’d definitely stay again.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

Chase down the Loch Ness monster in a boat, kayak or canoe… at Loch Ness (20 minutes’ drive), there are boat cruises, watersports rentals and the lochside ruins of Urquhart Castle (35 minutes) to explore. If you’re keen to add dolphins to your creature-spotting list, your best chance is at Chanonry Point (20 minutes) on the coast. The Scottish coast has more remarkable points of interest, such as the beach caves and stunning coastal walks around the Rosemarkie beaches (15 minutes) and Ullapool (an hour), a pretty fishing town. Other ripe walking grounds include Ord Hill (10 minutes’ walk) and its gorgeous views over Inverness, the Ben Wyvis trailhead (50 minutes’ drive) river trail, the ancient pinewoods in Glen Affric (45 minutes) or a sightseeing-themed wander through the streets of Inverness (10 minutes) itself. Mountain biking trails more your kind of thing? Head to the Learnie Red Rock Trails (20 minutes). Otherwise, you may want to bike, climb or hike in the Aviemore and the Cairngorms (35 minutes) for other outdoorsy days out.
