In need of a few days (or weeks) basking in peaceful countryside, within leisurely reach of lengthy scenic wanders? Head along to Southfork Caravan Park, a family-friendly and dog-friendly site less than five minutes’ drive from the large Somerset village of Martock – it’ll tick all the right boxes. The site’s in the pretty Somerset Levels and there are plenty of walking options close to hand, starting with the 50-mile long Parrett Trail along the River Parrett, which active guests might be drawn to join less than a minute’s easy stroll from the site, and which joins up with the West Somerset Coast Path at Bridgwater Bay. Not much of a rambler? Try angling for a different pursuit with a day’s fishing on the river’s banks: fishing licences are available to buy from reception, there are rods to hire if dragging kit and caboodle from home isn’t possible, and coarse fisheries within 20 minutes give plenty of avenues for landing carp, bream, tench, roach and chub. When talk of fish sets mouths watering, this is the right place to be: the Somerset Levels are well known for top-notch food, beer and cider, so there are plenty of tasty options hereabouts, and barbecues are welcome on site when something home-cooked appeals. Wash eats down with a bottle (or two) of genuine Somerset cider, available on site from the small shop…

  • The restaurant is open between 02/01 and 31/12.
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the campground while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.
  • Electric and fully-serviced pitches : 11 kWh are inluded in the price, any usage beyond this is metered on site at £0.62 per kWh and must be paid at check-out.

Liked Friendly, clean, spacious, quiet.
Lovely family run site. Great pitch sizes. Pitches in great condition, not over camped. There is hardstanding and grass. Electric and non electric.
Family run and being improved as they take over and make it theirs.

Liked Pretty site with the trees and very quiet location.

Disliked Toilets were not serviced enough. No soap!! No toilet paper!! A necessity for campers with no toilet !!!!! Spiders and dead flies all around windows. Not enough room around our pitch to other pitches too close to other tents. Cars not allowed by pitch. Long walk to toilet block if down the bottom of site where we was put even though we asked to be near for certain reasons which request was ignored.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback — we’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the peaceful, countryside setting of our site.

Regarding your concerns, we’d like to clarify a few points. As we are located in a natural, rural environment, insects and flies are unfortunately part of the surroundings. While we clean and maintain our facilities regularly, it's not always possible to prevent insects from landing on surfaces between checks.

We understand the importance of pitch location, especially for medical needs. However, as our pitches book up extremely quickly, we cannot always guarantee specific locations unless bookings are made well in advance. Additionally, if we are not informed of medical requirements prior to arrival, we must prioritise those who have communicated their needs ahead of time.

As clearly stated on our Pitchup listing, cars are not permitted on the main camping field. This is to preserve the environment and ensure a safe and peaceful experience for all. For reference, the distance from the lower pitches to the toilet block is approximately 50 metres — a short walk within the site.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we hope we can better meet your expectations should you choose to visit again.

Liked Lovely site, will deffo return. After reading the reviews, I was a bit weary of coming here... the showers being low, the owners being un friendly ect... but I'm so glad I didn't listen to the reviews as such.

Yes the shower heads are low I'm 5ft 4in an they were the perfect hight for me , what I loved about them was the constant flow of water an the fact they were lovely and hot.

The owners can be a precise on the way they want u parked/set up ect. But it's the council that set these rules not them. I found them very helpful, very accommodating, and friendly. In my way of life If u treat people how u want to be treated then u get the same respect back.
If I'm ever up this way again I will 100% book this site.

My older children had booked ons of the static caravans while we were there celebrating my 40th birthday. An I can honestly say they had no issues at all with their van or the owners .... I will sat if u do book a static make sure u take enough toilet roll as they only supply 1 roll per toilet (I suppose if u went to ask they would give u more)
Nothing was to much trouble for them.

Liked Could not recommend more highly, beautiful site and wonderful staff.
On the final night of our stay our 2 year old daughter was rushed to hospital (nothing related to the site) and we stayed until the following day. Obviously check out would normally cause anxiety in unplanned situations like this but the staff really went above and beyond making sure we did not need to worry, we will definitely be back

Somerset is famed for its cider, and stays at Southfork won’t disappoint on that front. The well-placed site is less than 10 minutes’ drive from Somerset Cider Brandy Company, producers of Somerset Cider Brandy and Burrow Hill Cider, and Perry’s Cider Mills and Bridge Farm Cider are open for visitors within 15 minutes. Pretty sweet, no? This isn’t just a top spot for fans of apple bevvies though… Anyone with a yen for wandering among flowers and trees is well served here too: East Lambrook Manor Gardens (home of Margery Fish’s ‘achievable’ cottage garden) are less than five minutes away, Tintinhull House Gardens are within 10 minutes, and Hestercombe is 40 minutes from the site. Prefer nature walks to be more wild and free? Step away from the cultivated lawns and meticulously planned box hedges with jaunts to the East Devon, Dorset and Blackdown Hills Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (all within 35 minutes), or head further afield with a trip to Exmoor National Park a little under an hour away. For traditional holiday days, the beaches of Somerset and Dorset – at Lyme Regis and Burnham-on-Sea – are within about an hour’s drive, and kids can be easily entertained at Longleat Safari Park, Wookey Hole and the West Somerset Railway, all within 45 minutes.
