If you're on the lookout for a Cornwall location that’s both gorgeously green and easy to get to, take a look at the touring pitches at Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite. The spacious pitches here are set between mature trees and hedges at a 20-acre landscaped park that provides plenty of peace and privacy – but they're also fabulously easy to access from the A39 (between Truro and Falmouth).
This site is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club but it’s open to non-members as well as club members (if you’re a CAMC member, make sure you select the 'already a member’ extra for your discounted price). It’s a quiet and family-friendly place a short walk from the village of Carnon Downs, which has a mini market, a seasonal fruit farm and a local garden centre with a popular café.
This is a spacious site that's got high-quality facilities including a playground, a well-equipped games room and a café/bar serving up snacks and hot or cold drinks, either inside or out on the terrace. There are also heated bathroom blocks (with wheelchair-accessible facilities), a launderette, a washing-up area and an information point with lots of handy tips about the area. Dogs are welcome, and there's plenty of space to exercise them at the dog walk area.
As for human walks, how about a stroll to the pub? There are three welcoming local inns within walking distance for an easy meal and drink at the end of your day of exploring the Cornish countryside and coast.

Local attractions
Cornwall's only cathedral city is rather easy to reach from Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite. Truro (10 minutes' drive) has stunning historic architecture, a popular weekly farmers' market and modern shops to its name.
If you like to take a dip while on holiday, you might like to acquaint yourself with Loe beach (10 minutes). This sheltered spot is just the spot for a swim or some watersports. The maritime town of Falmouth (20 minutes) is another fine option, with its sandy beaches. After your dip, look around the natural harbour or call into the National Maritime Museum Cornwall (25 minutes).
Walkers and nature fans are also well-served in these parts. There are scenic footpaths leading directly from the site towards the river Fal and the historic hamlets of Penpol and Devoran; on these routes you'll see some of the area's industrial heritage as well as pretty views over the creek. Cyclists can get their fix on the coast-to-coast Bissoe Trail, a short drive from the site.
Other iconic Cornish landmarks within striking distance of the park include the Eden Project (45 minutes) or the lush Trelissick Garden (five minutes).
