Heading to Cornwall in search of coast views and a peaceful place to relax? You’ve hit the jackpot on both fronts at Chapel Porth Motorhome Park – this small seaside site has just a handful of pitches and is set up for adults only, making it a lovely option for quiet child-free breaks.
If the name rings a bell, that’s because it’s named after Chapel Porth beach, a gorgeous National Trust-maintained stretch of sand about half a mile away. That location means you can walk down to the beach in about 15 minutes (it’s particularly lovely at sunset), or easily pick up the South West Coast Path to explore more of this part of the coast. Porthtowan beach, Wheal Coates tin mine and St Agnes Head are all easily walkable – or you could hike over to Perranporth or Portreath if you’re feeling a little more energetic.
Back at base, you’ll be staying at a spacious hardstanding pitch with water and electric hook-up and access to a chemical disposal point and motorhome service area. Tucked away next to a thriving woodland, it’s a peaceful spot where you may catch glimpses of deer, squirrels and birds as you wander.
Need picnic supplies for your evening on the beach? There are supermarkets 20 minutes’ drive away in Redruth or smaller shops in St Agnes (five minutes’ drive/half an hour’s walk), which also has several pubs and other places to eat.

Local attractions
You’ll have your pick of coastal spots to visit around here – starting, of course, with Chapel Porth beach (15 minutes’ walk), which has a fabulous three miles of golden sand at low tide. Meander along the South West Coast Path after that and you’ll be able to spot historical relics such as Wheal Coates tin mine and other remnants of Cornwall’s industrial past.
A few other choice coastal locations to visit nearby include Trevaunance Cove (10 minutes’ drive), Perranporth beach (15 minutes) and the surf hotspot of Portreath beach (15 minutes). A walk along the coast path brings lots of scenic views, and potentially also the chance to spot marine life including dolphins or whales.
Away from all the coastal attractions, you may like to learn about the area’s past at Cornwall Gold (15 minutes) and National Trust - East Pool Mine (20 minutes), wander around Truro (25 minutes) or reap the benefits of a grownups-only break with a trip to Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm (15 minutes).
