  • Friendly family-run Cornwall farm site 20 minutes' drive from Newquay
  • Take a bus or a five-minute drive to Padstow and its stunning beach
  • Food served mornings and evenings; secure dog walking field available
You’ll have a tough time choosing between Cornish ice cream and fish and chips when you touch down at Padstow View Campsite in Cornwall. Pitch up at a peaceful farm site with estuary views… and use it as your gateway to sandy beaches, harbour towns and the Cornish countryside. Within a short bus journey or five-minute drive of Padstow (and also within walking distance), this friendly site welcomes families and dogs (with an exclusive-use dog-walking field for the latter). It's also only a 20-minute drive from Newquay. The showers on site will help rinse away any sand picked up visiting the seven bays within 10 minutes’ drive (including Trevone Bay, Constantine Bay, Porthcothan Bay, Treyarnon Bay, Booby’s Bay, Mother Ivy’s Bay and Harlyn Bay); there are toilets and a washing-up area on site for guests' use as well. Phone charging lockers are available for powering your gadgets (with wifi available and a decent 4G signal too), and there are plugs on hand for small appliances like hairdryers. When not at the beach, while away your day hiking or cycling around the country trails and coastal paths. Walk directly to Padstow or catch a regular bus from the site. In Padstow, boats are on hand for angling or beach hopping and Rick Stein’s famous seafood recipes can be sampled at several restaurants. Good day out at sea? Bring your catch back to the site, where barbecues are allowed. There's a shop on site with essentials and delicious food is served every night on site. On the morning menu are fresh coffee, cakes and fresh locally sourced bacon rolls. Handily, there are also several pubs and restaurants (including a dog-friendly pick) within a five-minute drive and a farm shop a couple of minutes' drive away.

What customers say

This friendly, family-run spot boasts great facilities, clean loos & showers. Folks rave about helpful staff, ace views, and handy onsite shop/pizza. Great base for exploring, though a bit of road noise & sloped sites crop up. Tops for value and a chill vibe.

Bell tent

Liked The Bell tent was great. Good washing and toilet facilities.
We enjoyed the pizza available on evenings at a fair price.
The owner was available whenever we needed, very friendly and provided very helpful guidance to the local area to make the most of our time.
The location was excellent to visit lots of nice beaches along the north Cornish coastline.

Disliked - The traffic on both the adjacent roads can be heavy if you are sensitive to such noise.
- The flood lights from the neighbour was quite bright through the back of the tent.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Really nice camping grounds with lots of amenities. Toilets and showers always available and kept clean with a hairdryer in the toilet block to use.
Has a little shop for any forgotten bits. Onsite coffee can open from 7:30am was a highlight and pizza van each evening if you don’t feel like cooking or going out for food.
Made the whole visit very relaxing.
Lovely views and easy bus routes to Padstow or other locations.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Judith and her daughter were so friendly and polite, they made the campsite. My children would go see them multiple times when at the tent for a chat and to tell them about their days and what they had been doing. Even if they were busy they were no trouble and always took the time to chat to them.

The site itself, the field starts off flat but then slopes the further away from the entrance that you go so a pitch closer to the entrance and exit is best. However, we managed to find an almost flat pitch 3/4 of the way down the field. There were no defined pitches so you were able to pick your spot where you wanted.

There was free wifi for thise who need, coffee and breakfast items available and the Padstow Pizza on site. People would come who were not staying on the site to get a pizza during there opening hours. My girls sampled it one night and really enjoyed the pizza.

The toilets and showers were cleaned daily and were adequate.

Disliked Not really a dislike more of a recommended improvement for future. Invest in more toilet and shower facilities, the field is fairly large and at peek times the facilities would get full. (Maybe have a family sized shower for those with younger children)

Bell tent

Liked Stayed in a bell tent and site was well set up. Great toilet facilities, pizza on evening and breakfast on a morning at a reasonable price.
Owners were very helpful as we needed extra air in air mattresses the 2nd night and all was sorted from our days outing when we returned
Owner was very friendly.
Very clean and hygienic
Price for two night stay very reasonable as other locations we stayed at were no way near as good as this campsite
Great location for calling at different places of interest without being in the main areas

Disliked To be picky there is a road nearby with traffic (minor noise if you’re a light sleeper)

Local attractions

Don’t forget to pack your walking gear… the 18-mile Camel Trail begins in Padstow or Wadebridge (both within 10 minutes’ drive) and there are trails all over the local heritage coast (several within 15 minutes) or a different type of adventure underground at Carnglaze Caverns (40 minutes). The sea is your playground here, too. Boats wait at Padstow Harbour (five minutes) to whisk you out to sea for angling or wildlife spotting… keep your eyes peeled for seals, dolphins, puffins and basking sharks. A ferry can also take you across the river to Rock (otherwise 25 minutes’ drive) for a laidback afternoon. Kids are likely to enjoy the steam railway ride at Lappa Valley (25 minutes) or the animals and rides at Camel Creek Adventure Park (five minutes). As for adults, they can unwind with a meal or wine tasting at Trevibban Mill Vineyard or take a gin tour at Tarquins distillery (both five minutes away). Upgrade from a bodyboard to a surfboard at one of several surfing spots in the area. For newbies, there’s a surf school at Harlyn Bay (10 minutes) or more daring swells at Newquay (20 minutes) and Fistral Beach (30 minutes).
