  • Working farm site in rural Lancashire, with 63 acres and lovely views
  • A 10-minute drive to Blackburn; 40 minutes to Blackpool
  • Friendly atmosphere with play area and easy access to main roads
With 63 acres of farmland to its name and gorgeous views in all directions, Brocklehead Farm is an enticing prospect for people looking for a peaceful and scenic rural Lancashire spot that’s also handy for the amenities of everyday life. Settle in at this working farm and you’ll have views out towards the hills and mountains of the Lake District, Yorkshire and North Wales – on a clear day you’ll even be able to spot Blackpool in the distance. It’s got all the hallmarks of a classic countryside destination (including wildlife and farm animals) so it might be difficult to believe that Darwen’s only five minutes’ drive away and Blackburn about 10 minutes away. That location comes in handy not only for putting things like pubs, restaurants and shops within easy reach, but also for straightforward access to the local main roads for days out around town and country. You can get to Manchester or Liverpool with a drive of less than an hour from here, head to Blackpool for a day at the beach, or set your sights on exploring the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales (or a bit of all of the above…). Heaton Park is also just a 40-minute drive away. Meanwhile, a friendly community atmosphere reigns back at the farm – the owners live on site and are on hand to make sure everything is as it should be for enjoyable holidays. That setup includes providing a play area, easy parking places and a large shower block that’s got individual cubicles with a shower, basin and toilet. Dogs are welcome too, so you can bring your furry family member along on your break.

What customers say

Spacious, level sites with cracker views and top-notch facilities. Reviews rave about the cleanliness, awesome playground, and legends of staff. Automated entry and clear comms are a winner. Minor mentions of shower costs, wonky spots sometimes, and basic washing-up spots, but bugger all else – most are keen to come back!

Powered concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Plenty of space on the pitch, facilities decent and clean, kids liked the playground. some good walking trails close by like going up to darwen tower.

Disliked the only downsides is the pressure with the shower (to low) and could do with a hair dryer in the woman's.

Powered grass site

Liked This was our third visit to the site as a family and we absolutley love it everytime.

All staff are friendly and welcoming and are available to discuss any question you may have. As a family our favourite feature is that from any pitch you can see the park meaning you always have eyes on your children but can still relax on your own pitch without having to be on the park itself with them.
The toilets and shower facilities are always immaculate. We will definitly be back again.
Everyone on the site also respected each other and there were not one bit of noise after 9.30pm.

Liked Great play area for the kids, nice pitch size. We had a problem with our electric and someone came and sorted it straight away which was great. We only stayed 1 night but that was because of the weather.

Liked Well set out site with a central park which the kids loved. Clean shower block. Felt secure with the reg plate operated front gate. Free wifi. Will definitely return in better weather :)

Disliked Hard to get hot water for a wash in the bathrooms and shower pressure quite poor. Some recycling bins would be handy.

Powered concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Great scenery, and good location, kids playground was good but in the words of my son it needs a swing

Disliked Expensive for the standard of facilities, pitches very narrow and long, shower facilities cost £1 per shower and not of a great standard although they are very clean, site road not smooth and very muddy in the wet, no hot water at the washing up facilities

Powered concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Nice quiet site with clean facilities, a well organised site. Great communication through booking/arrival. Good hard standing pitch.

Disliked Forgetting to bring pound coins for showers- our bad. Because we forgot coins, decided to have a wash instead, which there wasn’t hot water in the sinks even through the water heaters.

Local attractions

Fancy stretching your legs? The Turton and Entwistle Reservoir (10 minutes’ drive) is probably the closest place for a walk in the woods, or you could head a little further afield for the many trails of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (35 minutes) or venture into the Yorkshire Dales from Skipton (45 minutes). Sticking to the outdoor attractions, you could also meet the animals at Smithills Open Farm or the Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary, admire the Singing Ringing Tree art installation or stroll around the Victorian gardens of Astley Hall (all about 20 minutes away). And of course there’s always the option of some sandy time at Blackpool beach (40 minutes)… For a bit of urban scenery, take a trip to Blackburn (10 minutes) for the museum, cathedral and ice arena, or set off for Manchester (45 minutes) and the Imperial War Museum North, National Football Museum and plenty of places to eat, drink and make merry.
