  • Dog-friendly site with views of Roseberry Topping
  • Just outside the North York Moors; 15 minutes’ drive to Saltburn
  • Five minutes' drive from dining spots and shops in Guisborough
Don’t you worry about finding a place with gorgeous hill views, beaches a short drive away and X – Wyke Lodges and Touring Caravans has got it all sorted. These aren’t just any old views. Here on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, the site faces Roseberry Topping, a partially cone-shaped hill that many say must be the long-lost sibling of Matterhorn in the Alps. A great family venture this may well be, as Wyke Lodges and Touring Caravans prides itself on being a tiptop kid-friendly experience. The facilities include a kids’ park, a washing-up area, wifi and male, female and accessible toilets. There are multiple water points, as well as waste and grey water disposal areas. For dining spots and shops, the market town of Guisborough is just five minutes’ drive away. It's just another bonus that the site has good access to the northeast coast: it's 15 minutes’ drive away from the beach at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, which has the oldest water-balanced cliff tramway in the UK and a historic pier. Staithes and Whitby are within 35 minutes' drive of the site and Scarborough is an hour away. A walk up Roseberry Topping, 10 minutes’ drive away, might also make your Yorkshire bucket list. Make your rounds of market towns like Stokesley, 15 minutes’ drive away, and Yarm, 25 minutes away. Cinemas and other attractions are in Middlesbrough, which is a 20-minute drive or so away. For bigger cities, Durham is 50 minutes' drive away and York is an hour and 15 minutes' drive away.

What customers say

This new, tidy campsite offers friendly service & spotless facilities. Guests love the roomy pitches & great walks (incl. Roseberry Topping). On-site cafe & nearby pub are a bonus. Expect some ongoing building work & faint road noise, but it's mostly highly rated with many keen to come back.

Liked Stayed Monday to Friday. Lovely small site. Play park for kids is good. Ice cream shop on site. Toilets and showers very clean and no smells. Disabled bathroom with sink, toilet, shower and baby changing. The owner we spoke to was really nice and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again. We used our own WiFi hotspot but there is WiFi at the site. Think you have to pay for it.

Disliked There were a few wasps that kept getting in our trailer tent. Park site is near to a dual carriageway which can be noisy at certain times of the day. No entertainment at night.

Liked The kids loved the park. There was a baby changing unit separate to the usual showers and toilets which was fab for a 1 year old. Next to a main road but no traffic noise could be heard. Owners were lovely. Had some food and milkshakes at the cafe and was delicious, staff were lovely too.

Liked Beautiful quiet little site, nothing not to like here. Greeted by the friendly owner with just a few basics to tell us as we arrived then left to choose our own pitch. Arrived in our motorhome and chose one of the available well spaced out pitches, all looked quite level too. Mixture of tents, caravans & motorhomes with a coupes to seasonal pitches.
The playground looked ideal for smaller children but wasn’t in use due to the rain!
The cafe onsite, again, looked lovely but we didn’t stay long enough to try this.
The facilities were excellent, new showers and plenty of space with the all important riser handrail for us ladies that don’t always want to wash our hair!
Hairdryers and a mirror in the shower block too with lots of spare toilet roll and even an air freshener for guest to use. A family shower room is also available, great to see.
We loved the grey drive over waste, worked a treat and the water fill hose was new and allowed us to refill with clean water.
We used the EHU with no issues and the washing facilities (undercover and lit… perfect for pot washing be in the rain!!)

I guess once the site is more established it will feel a little ‘cosier’ if hedges were planted along the way but this is not a criticism just that it’s a new site lacking in ‘shrubbery’ if that’s what people like.

We didn’t see any building work taking place (again, possibly due to the rain) but there are new ‘lodges’ being built so this looks like an up and coming site, one to definitely revisit to see its progress in the future.

The pub over the road served a lovely welcoming breakfast, we chose to drive off site after checking out and try the pub on our way to our next location, lovely menu choice and welcoming staff too.

Nothing to NOT like about this site and we felt worthy of an excellent review in the hope this business continues to grow and others enjoy the stay as much as we did.

On a clearer days the views would be lovely and I guess the sunset too would be perfect from this site.

A nice quiet, calm and super clean & tidy site and we wish the knees well and thank you for having us, we’d definitely visit again.

Disliked Nothing……. Perhaps better ventilation in the shower block; it felt rather hot in there and there was only me in there having a shower but that’s the same in many sites, and probably only noticed due to the warm but rainy weather at the moment.

Nothing else to dislike, our stay was lovely.

Local attractions

Beach day? You’ve got yourself a few options. Staithes (half an hour’s drive) is a worthy spot. Set over a hillside with cobbled streets and old cottages, the village also has a beach with lovely rockpools. You might be lucky enough to uncover a few fossils too. In Whitby (35 minutes), the beach is lined with gorgeous beach huts. Water activities aren’t exclusive to the sea, either. Windsurfing and boat rides are some of the activities at the Tees Barrage Bridge (20 minutes). At Cod Beck Reservoir (25 minutes), there’s no swimming but the water makes for gorgeous hiking views. A hilly climb is also on hand at Carlton Bank (25 minutes), which has moor views to switch things up. A famous figure in these parts is Captain Cook; learn about his journeys at the Captain Cook's Monument (15 minutes) or the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum (15 minutes).
