View to linton village from the camping field

  • Pop-up North Yorkshire campsite five minutes’ walk from Grassington
  • Bolton Abbey 25 minutes’ drive; Stump Cross Caverns 10 minutes
  • Spectacular River Wharfe and Yorkshire Dales National Park views
Wow, it’s a splendid view of the River Wharfe that you get from the pitches at Grassington Campsite. If you’re looking for a back-to-basics Yorkshire camping adventure with the kids during the school summer holidays, this spot surely must be on your list. A pop-up campsite with grass pitches, it’s five minutes’ walk from the centre of Grassington, gateway to expeditions throughout the scenic Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are shops in the village for stocking up on foodie treats, and you can abandon self-catering to head for local cafés and tea rooms, or perhaps check out a traditional Yorkshire pub – there are several inviting options within 10 minutes’ drive. If you get your timing right, you may get to see stars of the small screen filming ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ in Grassington – but what is guaranteed, however, is that you can walk stretches of the Dales Way directly from the campsite (bring any dogs to join in the fun). The amenities back on site include a toilet trailer with ladies and gents toilets and a unisex shower trailer. There is no electricity, so bring torches for finding your way back to your pitch after dark.

What customers say

Stunning views, short walk to Grassington. Friendly hosts, clean but basic facilities, peaceful vibe, great for families. Some found pitches tight & showers limited; a few thought it a bit pricey for what's on offer.

Unpowered grass campervan or tent site

Liked Quiet, plenty of room, ideal for walking, 5 minutes to centre

Disliked Be warned, in summer, the last hour before darkness, you really need some insect repellent.

Unpowered grass campervan or tent site

Liked Loved the space between pitches. We were allocated a pitch with plenty of room for our campervan. We could easily have added our awning if we had remembered it! The views are AMAZING, it’s so peaceful and relaxing.
Grassington has wine bars, cosy pubs and lovely little shops all within a 5/10 min walk.

We will definitely return!

Unpowered grass campervan or tent site

Liked The location is very convenient both for the village and walking and cycling routes and lovely views from the site. The facilities whilst simple are perfectly adequate and kept clean.

Disliked I would like to see some weather protection over the washing up area. I believe this to be essential and very easy to provide.

Unpowered grass campervan or tent site

Liked Absolutely beautiful surroundings. Very helpful and friendly host. Basic facilities but good enough.
The 10pm noise curfew tends to mean its a very good spot for young families. Lots of children there for my own to hang out with.
A great stay, will be back!

Local attractions

There’s more than enough to do around Grassington to keep the whole family happy. Let the kids have a run around among the bewitching follies and water fountains at The Forbidden Corner (45 minutes’ drive), and for an active family day scrambling around on zipwires, make for Raven Tree Top Adventure (20 minutes). At Bolton Abbey (25 minutes), wander among spectacular church ruins, take the stepping stones across the River Wharfe and watch open-air cinema in summer months. Close by is Hesketh Farm Park (25 minutes), where the whole family can pet farm animals and get lost in the straw maze. Hit a rainy day? No problem; take a trip deep underground to see prehistoric fossils and limestone formations at Stump Cross Caverns (10 minutes). To explore the dales on two legs, stroll down to Linton Falls (10 minutes’ walk) from your pitch and follow the Dales Way down to Hebden Suspension Bridge (half an hour). For wild dales views, circumnavigate the lake at Grimwith Reservoir (five minutes’ drive), and for more demanding hikes, follow the way-marked route up to the top of Simon’s Seat (20 minutes) to look out over Barden Fell.
