  • Cosy glamping site on a farm in a quiet north Lincolnshire village
  • A 10-minute drive to Normanby Hall and 40 minutes from Hull
  • Tearoom on site; walking and cycling in the local nature reserve
Taking some time out to go walking, cycling or birdwatching? Perhaps for more adventurous pursuits like watersports or treetop courses too? College Farm Glamping is in a good spot to get in some quality downtime with rural surroundings in the north Lincolnshire village of Alkborough, 40 minutes’ drive away from Hull. Part of a working farm, this luxury glamping site is 35 minutes’ walk away from the Alkborough Flats nature reserve, a prime birdwatching, walking or cycling patch, and 10 minutes from Normanby Hall, where there’s a Go Ape course and a golf course in the grounds of a Regency mansion. Tasty treats may become a nice part of your daily routine here, as there’s a tearoom on site where you can fuel up for the day (or refill in between activities). There are a few restaurants and a farm shop within 10 minutes’ drive of the site too, so you’ll always be able to trace the way to some more food spots, whether it’s to eat out, buy snacks for on the go or gather bits for the barbecue. Walking and cycling paths are in no short supply in the surrounding area. The views on the routes are rather scenic, as the Humber, Ouse and Trent rivers join up nearby. The local wetland nature reserve has plenty of waterside scenery too, as you might expect. Dogs are also permitted on site, which may come as good news to those of you who are inseparable from your canine companion.

What customers say

Great glamping pods, chill vibe & friendly owners. Cafe, pub nearby. Awesome for stargazing & farm animal fun, plus walks. WiFi can be spotty in rooms & you might hear farm trucks, but it's a ripper relaxing getaway!

Liked We loved our stay, the pods were nice and cosy, modern and clean. It was a nice peaceful place, just what was needed for a few days away. Hosts were very welcoming. We didn’t use the onsite cafe as we bought our own food and used the barbecue provided but it looked nice.
Would stay again. Thank you ☺️

Liked Second visit back for us and just as enjoyable as the first. A lovely place for a busy mind to just relax. The owners are friendly especially when being faced with what seemed like a hundred questions about the livestock on the farm :)
Would we come back for a third time? I think it would be a resounding yes from us and the children.
For any park runners, there is ample opportunity to attend the event at Normanby Hall which, is a 10 minute drive from the farm or even travel a little further to Scunthorpe.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked Clear area above to watch stars at night, grassed area to let kids play on. Owner even went out the way and offered to get milk from the next village down for us.
Nice little glamping pods fitted 2 adults and 2 kids nicely.
WiFi available.
Onsite coffee shops with breakfast menu

Disliked WiFi was ok, but found that in the bed you couldn't get WiFi, but could on sofa and outside nicely. Not the be all of end alls.

Farm traffic on the night but again wasn't a massive issue really, could affect some people but we enjoyed it.

Maybe have small essentials in the cafe onsite to sell to customer .

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked We loved our stay here. Clean, well-equipped pods with bedding, cooking equipment etc provided and a good shower. Patio with bbq for the evenings (remember to bring charcoal). Friendly, helpful owners on site and a mobile phone number provided. Off-road dog walks. Nice atmosphere on a working farm. Our young kids enjoyed being able to run freely around the pitch area and loved seeing the farm animals.

Local attractions

If wildlife, playgrounds and peaceful walks sound splendid, you’ll be in your element at one of two local spots: perhaps begin with Waters' Edge Country Park & Visitor Centre (20 minutes’ drive), where there are gorgeous footpaths and playgrounds, or visit the toboggans, animals and playgrounds at The Pink Pig Farm (half an hour). To finish up with woodland walks and more adventure play areas, William's Den (35 minutes) should be the next step on your itinerary. Afternoons of the peaceful sort can also be sought out at RSPB Blacktoft Sands (40 minutes), a nature reserve with walking and birdwatching activities. Those of you who’d like to make your trip a little more water-themed can jump right in the deep end with open-water swimming, watersports and other outdoor activities at Welton Waters Adventure Centre (35 minutes) or plant down on the sand at Cleethorpes beach (50 minutes) for donkey rides, more watersports and access to the pier and boating lake. The city of Hull (40 minutes) isn’t far off either for those of you who’d like to stroll through the tunnels at the Deep aquarium (40 minutes) or visit the Streetlife Museum (35 minutes).
