  • Family-run site on a 30-acre farm near Horncastle, Lincolnshire
  • Half an hour’s drive to Skegness, and 40 minutes to Gibraltar Point
  • Campfires encouraged: meals provided to heat up
Off to Lincolnshire for some rural rest and relaxation? Get back to nature and the simple life with a stay at welcoming New Farm Holidays, set in 30 acres of peaceful woodland near Horncastle. This is properly remote camping, and a break here is best started with a wander around the organic farm. There’s bags of room for kids to run off energy in complete safety, building dens, playing games and splashing around in the lake. Or how about sitting back on clear nights to watch the stars twinkling in the Milky Way? Mains electricity, flushing toilets, a hot shower and dishwashing facilities are all available on site, along with wifi. The car park is 100 yards from the pitches, and a large cart is available for guests to shift their gear onto site. A roaring fire is essential when you’re camping, and at New Farm Holiday, every pitch has a dedicated firepit area so you can curl up in the warmth with a glass of wine or cook up a barbecue. A large bag of logs, kindling and firelighters is available for a small charge, or you’re welcome to bring your own logs – but please don’t gather firewood from the woods.

Meadow powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Spacious pitches (not woodland) water on each pitch. Not micro managed by the owners, did speak to them and they were lovely! Hand wash in the toilets, and liquid at the wash up sinks. Lots of hot water, and the shower was powerful and hot. Will definitely be back.

Powered forest floor tent site (woodland)

Liked Good pitch size in an absolutely beautiful setting. Good showers, plenty of hot water. Own water tap at each pitch, which is always good. Friendly, understanding service, we had to leave late due to a mishap with a ground sheet and they were great about it. Feels secluded, we were the only ones there for most of our stay as right at the end of the season. Small number of pitches so immagibe it wll not over crowded even in peak season. Had a wonderful time, would absolutely stay again!

Disliked Was amazing so these are the only tiny cons we could think of. Could of had additional lighting to the toilet. Wash up area had a low roof, definitely not made for tall people. Located on a flight path so can be a little noisy.

Liked Lovely site, clean and tidy. The showers & toilet very spacious. Loved that each pit had it own picnic bench & fire pit. We were the only ones there and it was so peaceful. Dog loved the area and picthes are very very reasonable size! Location is about 30 min drive to Skegness & 20 mins to Horncastle

Disliked Track into the site very bumpy as shared with the farm. Far out from shops / pubs

Meadow powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Great site! Loved both the woodland and field camping ideas. The picnic bench and fire pit by each pitch was great! Toilets and showers were always clean!

Disliked Using the satnav on the iPhone took us to two different locations when trying to find the site but once used google it found the right road. (Not an issue of the site more of an FYI!)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the lovely feedback. Delighted you enjoyed our site and the clean facilities. What a beautiful picture you added! Sorry your satnav sent you on a detour. We share our location and directions in our emails and online guidebook then text the postcode again on the morning of arrival. Glad you found us in the end and hope to see you again next time with an easier journey.

Local attractions

From coast to countryside, activities to attractions, Lincolnshire has masses to offer all comers, what with family jaunts around a dinosaur trail and encounters with rare arctic foxes at ARK Wildlife and Dinosaur Park (five minutes’ drive), and meeting cheeky parrots or feeding tigers at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park (15 minutes). If you’d rather spot some wildlife actually in the wild, Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (40 minutes) is the place to be, for rambles across dunes and the chance to spot colonies of common seals. If you like to be beside the seaside, Skegness (half an hour) is a riot of family fun, with amusement arcades, go-karting, mini-golf and fairground rides – and that’s before you hit the sandy beach. If you’d prefer a more sedate trip to the coast, the New Farm team recommend their favourite spot, Chapel Six Marshes (40 minutes). Lincolnshire’s also known for its military connections: the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (10 minutes) is home to one of the few Lancaster Bombers still in existence, and there are more vintage World War Two planes on display at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre (20 minutes).
