A ripper, well-kept campsite with heaps of room and ace views. Toilets and showers are always spotless. The local pub's a legend for grub and good times. Staff are dead helpful and welcoming. Top spot for walks and checking out the Peak District. A few punters mentioned a bit of noise and crowded facilities at peak times.

Liked Great pitch, lovely soft grass and clean amenities. Easy access to sister pub only 10 minutes through the fields. (Take a torch at night)

Disliked Road noise can be a little off putting.

Disliked It was a shame that the pub next door was closed and I wish the park suited smaller children as well as older children

Disliked Toilets could do with a clean a little bit, as well as wasps can be a problem when we were there

Local attractions

This countrified site is close to beauty spots like Dovedale (20 minutes' drive), where you can stroll along the water's edge and picnic by the far-farmed stepping stones. For a more adventurous (and hillier) trek on foot, pick up the nearby Limestone Way in Monyash (five minutes). Looking for cycle hire? Head to Parsley Hay (five minutes) to hire bikes (including accessible models) and tandems. This is where the High Peak and Tissington trails meet (both run along flat former railway lines, so there's little chance you'll run out of puff). Chatsworth House (20 minutes) has grand gardens and elegant interiors to admire (there's also a guinea pig village that's likely to revive any tiddlers suffering from museum fatigue). Buxton (15 minutes) is a spa town of similarly posh repute and is full of boutique shops, ornate terraces and cultural sites (it also plays host to the Buxton Festival throughout the month of July). It's also home to two popular golf courses (the Cavendish Golf Club for hot shots and Peak Practice Golf for newbies).
