I think there's a slight disconnect between the info on the website and what the reality is. We couldn't find a river field or a shop and 'the Barn' was never open for the week we were there in the school holidays (though we did find the barn and could see into it through a gap in the door!)
There's no 'reception' as such, so some clearer displayed info/maps would be really really useful.One small addition that could be really useful is a sink or two (and maybe a mirror) in the sheltered area by the showers. There is no place to wash hands other than an outdoor tap. A sink would make this nicer and, although there is an old cold water belfast sink outside where we washed up, if it was raining, a sheltered sink with warm water would have been lovely!
All minor points that didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay.

£3.80 per pitch goes on skips and staff costs for waste disposal. This includes clearing fire pits after you leave, litter picking the site and recycling the bottles, cans and cardboard that most campers don't separate.
£4.30 per pitch goes on site operating costs. The cost of mowing the grass, maintaining the walls, fences, etc.
£0.48 per pitch goes on electricity.
£0.68 per pitch goes on mains water (available throughout the site, plus free showers and toilets).
£3.60 per pitch goes on staff costs. The cost of coming around, booking everyone in, answering queries, taking activity bookings and organizing animal activities like horse riding and animal feeding. Answering questions regarding the local area, walking routes, where you can get food, etc.
£1.90 per pitch goes on business rates.
£1.60 per pitch goes on insurance.

I know that might grieve some people, and I genuinely don't want campers to stay with us if they don't respect that we are entitled to make a modest profit in return for giving up our weekends and having to put up with the small minority of pretentious campers who have never had the courage to own and operate a business of their own.
Finally, there are loads of taps around the site and a number of sinks. I don't believe that you never saw them. If you'd asked us, we'd have pointed them out. As kids in this country go without food and veterans sleep on the streets, I invite you to recalibrate your outrage.

Great toilet / shower facilities been recently built - in a rustic barn style -with lovely spacious toilets and free hot showers . Covered barn area also allows shelter if required. Drinking water taps at both ends of camping areas which I found very useful . Feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but also have the town of Sedbergh being easy walking distance away with a number of shops and places to eat. Dog friendly site and loads of footpath access for dog walkers. Owners friendly and helpful and have a great relaxed approach, allowing you to just to arrive, pitch up and get settled in . I loved being able to have a fire and was one of the reasons we booked. Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay there and would highly recommend to those that enjoy and appreciate rural camping and beautiful countryside. One of the cheaper camp sites and in my opinion is excellent value . Would definitely book again.

I walked the site each evening at 2130hrs and there was little more than a murmur around people's tents. There was no loud music.
At the entrance to the campsite there's a noticeboard that asks you to call me if there are any issues - you didn't.
We received over 20 positive comments regarding the showers that weekend and this is the first negative one. As you know, they're new, so we are asking at every chance what everyone thinks of them.
You are wrong about no sinks on the campsite. I saw them in use all weekend.
As you'll see with previous reviews, if I get phone call of an issue, it's dealt with decisively.
I'm not a slave to reviews, but I do always look for decent feedback as we want to improve where I agree with comments. We open our lives up and commit our time in summer so that hard working families can decompress in a relaxed setting. We do get the odd group who take it too far, and they are dealt with - but if families having fun and kids getting excited exploring open space offends anyone reading this review, please don't book with us....because that'll never change.
